Freezing...?

From time to time my PS4 will freeze. On occasion I can hold down the power button twice and it will reboot, but more times than not I am forced to unplug it. Otherwise it just sits there... doing nothing. I can hold down the PS Button and do "Turn off PS4" but then it just spins the loading wheel. I have let it sit for about 30 minutes--nothing. I have noticed when I turn off the upload features such as cloud and the "make your PS4 ready for the next time you use it" thing it tends to work a little smoother.

Am I alone in having this issue? My PS4 was purchased at launch.

Not me. The only issue I've ever had (minor) was starting up the console and there would be no sound.

Your not alone, its happened to me a couple times. All you can do is reboot by holding down the power. I don't think anybody really knows what causes it. Some are saying its overheating while others saying its certain apps or games. For me the problem is few and far between.

Have you tried re-installing the firmware because it might be your hdd corrupting or something? I'm no expert but it does sound like something's wrong with the hdd. I've heard of similar issues and some reported that re-initializing solved the problem. Anyway, if it's happening often why not bring it back since it's still under warranty I presume.

Yeah and mine kept getting worse. Called Sony (2 hour wait time) and they sent me a box to ship it back to them. It took 3 weeks for me to receive a replacement!

That's the thing, the wait. My warranty isn't over until November, so I think I will hold out until then. I have recently deleted some games and set it so the PS4 does not set itself up for use when I am not on. I know this only applies when I put the console in stand-by, but I think the problem is that while turning it off, the console--for whatever stupid reason--gets confused and thinks its either entering or leaving stand-by mode. I've tested it out a few times and with this off I have no issues. With it on, I do. I also took off auto cloud saving because again, I feel like in the shut-off process the console gets confused while uploading to the cloud. I would have a lot of "could not upload" messages when I turned it back on anyway. So far, no issues. Only time will tell if this continues to work.

Prior to all this I did defrag the console, but that did not help.

I had this happen once the first week I had my PS4, but it hasn't happened again since. What games or app were you running prior to the lockup?
