Game you just had to put down?

Hello everyone. In the previous versions of the Playstation, was there ever a game that you just had to stop playing? If so, why?

Personally, and this is going to be a shock to some, but I had to stop playing The Last of Us. It was an awesome game, but TLoU was almost too engrossing for me. I felt so empathetic towards Ellie, and when she was doing the normal NPC stuff and smashed a guy in the head with a brick, I had to shut it down. I never booted up again.

Anyone else have this experience, or am I just a noob? Haha.

Yeah, I had to put down Dead Space for almost 2 years. I was so scared by that game that I had to double check every dead body in the Ishimura just to make sure that they're not Necromorphs and when that regenerating bastard came in I just shut my console off, God I hated that thing.

The more modern games don't really have this effect on me – simply because I no longer have the time to play them over and over again. I suppose the only one which I could say get played repeatedly are the games from the GTA series – as I endeavour to get over the 90% mark in them all (I'm really not fussed about 100%!). Sometimes it’s just nice to slot in the disc and simply go for a random drive for an hour or so. However, I've not picked up GTA5 now for a couple of months. A combination of simply loosing interest, not having the time or being in the mood.

Going back a bit in time to the original Playstation, the first couple of Tomb Raider games were played over and over again. The same with Gran Turismo. I got a bit bored with Gran Turismo as I'd done everything I wanted to and the only reason I stopped with the early Tomb Raider games was simply because my PS3 isn't backward compatible. It's a similar story with Resident Evil 2, too.

The game I had to put down was Thrasher's Skate and Destroy. I have always been a fan of skateboarding games so I picked up Skate and Destroy at release. I was a little disappointed on how crappy it played so I had to put it down. It was very hard to actually land a good trick.

Batman: Arkham Origins.

It wasn't even necessarily a bad game, but I just have way too long of a backlog. It also felt like I was forcing myself to turn it on every night. I just had to stop.

I had to put down my Gran Turismo 5 its a good game oh wait its an awesome game but that game is just too time consuming for me.

Wii Sports Golf. I know it is not a Playstation game, but seriously... screw Wii Sports Golf.

SIREN. That Jap game wherein you are stranded in some strange place with scary and creepy stuff going on 24/7. They give you a gun, but it was freakin useless. And the sounds in-game just give me the creeps every time. Can't play it again, try it out if you think I'm pussying out.

I had to put down the game "I Am Alive," because if I didn't, I am pretty sure I would have broke my Playstation. The game frustrated me too much. I was too irritated with the game and it just wasn't setting with me right.

It's a post apocalyptic survival game. Your in a world where everything fell apart (no zombies or anything) and if my memory serves me right (it might not) you are trying to get back home in hopes your family is alive.

This amounts to you walking around in first person trying to stay alive. My first death was because I tried to an old lady, she got scared and shot me... I also put this one down.

Two from this generation. One good, one bad.

Dragon Age: Origins. Its a good game. I liked it. But I dunno. I just couldn't stay sucked into it. I'd play it and play it for hours then a couple days later, I'd stop and play another game. Then it would take another year before I put it in again. Then the same cycle. Play it for a couple days and stop.

Aliens: Colonial Marines. So hyped about it before launch. But it was so bad, it was unplayable. I couldn't even admit to myself how bad it was at first. A friend of mine too was the same. We'd talk all the time how awesome it was gonna be. It was released and we were in denial. But it just got to a point that the game was so bad, I had to just stop playing it and cut my loses. Still haven't beaten it. I then said to myself, the online is good. Even then. It was so bad I had to stop.

Whoa, that sounds pretty awesome. I have got to try this one out

There are quite a few horror games I had to put down, for obvious reasons
I still remember when playing Dino Crisis when the T-Rex comes through the glass corridor I jumped and let go of the controller, I stopped playing that for a couple of days, even though I eventually finished it.

Same. To me, scary games need to be played at night, in a dark room with the blinds and any source of light closed. I also prefer to put on my headset so I'm completely immersed. Dunno why, but don't mind a good scare.
