Games that deserve a sequel but didn't get any.

I don't agree with that at all. From a business standpoint yes but from a gamer and artistic standpoint, I don't think so. There are plenty of good games out there that would do well in a sequel but don't get them because of sales, such as Brothers in Arms and now Dead Space, Red Faction. All are great games that people would love to play sequels but because one game missed projections, they may not see the light of day again. Then you have games series that had a good initial game then they ended up pumping out sequels that don't always seem to be good. For example, TimeSplitters deserved a sequel but the last game a lot of people felt missed its mark. Medal of Honor too. In the push to make money and fill the bottom line, those game series got killed. Were those sequels "deserved" or should the series have ended on high notes?

Couldn't agree with more :)

Its a shame too. Dead Space 3 after awakened left you on a serious cliff hanger and I want to so bad know how the story is gonna end. Its said the series is on hold because Visceral is working on a Star Wars game and also because it missed EA's sales projections. Hopefully when they finish that Star Wars game, we'll have a better idea about the next step in Dead Space. If they don't release a game, at least release a graphic novel or something. I need closure :( Sorry about the off topic rant. Just needed to get that off my chest :)

Video games is a business...

Either way I'm just trying to clarify what this thread is trying to do, because it looks like it is started two different conversations. The title of the thread asks what we think deserves a sequel, but the first post itself asked what we thought was great and should have had a sequel. These are two different discussions.

For example: Bully without a doubt deserves a sequel. People loved it when it came out, the sales were great and people still talk about it today. It deserves a sequel.

On the opposite side I'm going to pick Quest 64. I had a lot of fun with it, as a kid I thought it was great and I would've loved another one. But it received fairly badly critically and financially. It doesn't deserve a sequel.

Honestly I think that two games that really deserved sequels but I don think that they have ever gotten any was brink and Red Dead. I really had a ton of fun playing those video games and I really thought that they mioght have had sequels coming out but I guess I had set my hopes to high. I am still having hope that they will come out eventually. Oh yeah and one more game is Sleeping Dogs. I think that a sequel should come out for that game I had a lot of fun playing that.

I don't think they have even released a screenshot yet, but I'm pretty sure United Front Games said they were working on a new Sleeping Dogs.

I know I'm going rogue with this one, but I have to say Earthbound. I've been waiting so long for that darn sequel, and I know it will never happen. But a guy has to dream, right?

You're in luck. I haven't posted enough times for the website to actually let me post a link. Go google Mother 3.

Yeah there's Mother 3. There was also a fan made Mother 4 in the works, dunno if it got finished or not.

There's also the prequel on NES, Earthbound Zero but it's a terrible game noone should suffer through!

I just randomly remembered a game I wanr more of.. It was a PS2/Gamecube/Xbox FPS called Darkwatch. You play as a vampire cowboy fighting various other super natural enemies.

Darkwatch Trailer

The game was admittedly pretty dumb, and I don't imagine it sold well. I had a lot of fun with it though.

Shadow of the Colossus definitely deserved a sequel. The artwork, story- Everything about this game was beautiful. I could only wish there was a sequel...but alas, that will never happen.

Fallout: New Vegas or Fallout 3, I am waiting and patiently waiting for them to release it, hopefully they will tell us at E3. When the hype started around Fallout 4, I was really hoping that it was not a hoax and that it was actually coming out. Ever since I played Fallout 3 I have been hooked to the series and even played through Fallout 1 & 2.

Man, hopefully they announce more Fallout at E3. IMO, Fallout is vastly superior to Elder Scrolls in almost every way.

Even if nothing is shown this year there is definitely more Fallout coming.

Alpha Protocol is another great game that deserves a sequel.
It was really unique is many ways, sadly id was bug-ridden and that kept most people away from it (most are fixed now by patching).
I wish that IP was handed over to another developer that really took it's time and cared for it.

I honestly would have loved to see a MAG sequel. I enjoyed the hell out of that game. It is such a shame that it bombed. 256 players in one server....on a console?! This game was so underrated and I think a second installment would be great!

Man I saw this thread again and remembered a game that deserve a sequel: Bulletstorm.

Bulletstorm was one of the most fun FPS of the past generation. Amazing gameplay with the skillshots and hilarious banter between the characters. It's too bad that it ended on a cliffhanger and we never got a sequel...
