Games that would make good movies

My list is a bit long.
GTA San Andreas- would make a really nice movie, sad story, betrayals and a half happy-half sad ending.
Red Dead Redemption- would make an awesome wild-west movie with a great ending.
Far Cry 3- This would make some awesome movie too, people will love Vaas
The Last of Us- Blockbuster.

I'd love to see a Devil May Cry movie in my lifetime, and if they do, hopefully it will be good. Not that interested with the new one, though, I prefer the original game and would love to see what they could do in a live action modern take of it.

I think the better question is, who could make a good video game movie. There are tons of games that could be good movies. Nobody has been able to really master the video game movie though.

Yeah definitely GTA would be funny seeing how they behave on the big screen and it should do with real people not characters.

It's been mentioned before, but man I would LOVE to see a Half Life movie. Bryan Cranston as Gordon...I'm there first day and showing!

My second would be either Skyrim or Portal. So much you could do with either!

Good to see that I am not the only one who thinks that Gordon has an almost uncanny resemblance to Gordon. But seriously, Cranston just has to play Gordon if they ever make a movie out of it.

I would like to see a movie of the game The Legend of the Dragoon. I love this game and I play it all the time when I want to feel nostalgic. I think it would make a good movie with the dragons and the cool hero. I know that hollywood has had bad luck making video games into movies, so I may want them to make a movie out of this game, I would not really want them to try because I would hate to see them ruin a good game.

I'd vote for Halo. The first three games would make an awesome sci-fi trilogy. The mythos is there and so is the action. However, I feel like it could never be as popular as Star Trek or Star Wars since the main character always has his face covered. Halo fans would freak out if they showed Master Chief's face.

I have to agree Halo would make a great trilogy. I read once there was talks about the rights to the movie, but that MS and the studio could not agree on the financial portion of the deal - too bad because I think there is room for all to make money here.

Not a popular opinion, but if I had the power to choose, I would choose Assassins Creed. It's story would be a good plot for a movie. I think it has the potential, and it's all up to the directors to cast the right people.

I saw the Assassins Creed movie about Ezio's father. It was good, honestly saying.

OK well this won't come as a surprise to all of you that know me but here it is anyway

All the top FPS from Halo and Crysis to the military style ones like CoD and BF3 have cinematic quality writing and story lines. I know there have been at least 2 failed attempts and getting a Halo movie going even though the comic world has proven time and time again that fantasy entertainment from other media is box office gold.

You never know you may be right. They do like to make movies out of popular games and that is definitely a popular game. I just hope that if they do they do it justice because their track record sucks.

I also feel like GoW would make a good movie. However, seeing the terrible things they have done with games through time by turning them into movies I would reconsider. The game is basically a movie as it is so if they kept to the storyline and wrote a script that did not deviate I would be behind it. But they will not. They'll have to add a bunch of Hollywood garbage and maybe a Vince Vaughn for sarcastic comic relief. Nonsense.

Doubt a GOW movie will ever show up. Unless it's rated R, the movie simply can't capture the feel of the game and no studio will bet on an R rated movie based on a game.

Great topic mate. There are hundreds of games that could be converted into a successful movie. Here are a few: The last of Us (amazing story), Bioshock (all 3 games), GTA San Andreas, Mafia 1 and 2 (they have some similarities with Godfather, but the story is unique) and Dishonored. Ooo... also Assasins Creed has an amazing and complex story that could be used in a movie.

I think Grand theft auto san Andreas can make a great movie. It is even as for me now more than a movie. If that happens the game can be a great gangster movie considering its platform which is exactly the same as the one for a gangster movie. It has also taken major scenes and characters in "gangster" movies which are translated it to videogames.
