Games you regret purchasing

So what are some purchases you regret paying money for (games-wise)?

For me, it would of been "Turning Point: Fall of Liberty" a few years back. I purchased this game when it first came out and spent something like $90-100 (AU dollars) only to find out the game was absolutely horrible. I thought it sounded great and looked good, but man - I should of listened to others!

How about you guys? Tell us your stories :)

There are not many games I have regretted purchasing, however one that I do regret is Mike Tyson. It's just a really sluggish and poor design I think, the graphics are good, but the way the characters are controlled is really quite poor. I didn't get any enjoyment out of the game whatsoever. At least I am glad I bought it second hand I guess.

Dragon Ball Z Ultimate battle 22 was literally a complete waste for me. I'm an anime and just a straight up DBZ fan but around this time there weren't many games to choose from so if I wanted some "Kame Hame Ha" action, this is where it would most likely take place. All I can say is that I would have been better off playing street fighter and pretending they were DBZ fighters because that game was god awful, smh.

I know that feeling so much. It was like the characters were moving in molasses, the whole gameplay felt sluggish and the graphics were horrible. A really bad game trying to cash in the Dragon Ball craze back in the day.

I don't regret the purchase, just the timing, but I bought Injustice: Gods Among Us when it came out because I'm a huge DC Comics fan. I normally don't care for fighting games, but I made an exception on this one. The only reason I regret buying it so soon is because like two weeks after I got it, it was on sale for $35 somewhere, and I had bought it from Amazon with no price match guarantee. It's a good game, but I haven't been playing it and I'm afraid that it's lost its appeal so soon, especially considering how much I paid for it.

I regret buying Darkfall, Brink, Black Ops 1, and a few others that are mostly more MMO's. It seems like every game I get hyped and preorder, becomes crap. Midus touch of pre-ordering I guess :\.

I highly regret getting The Punisher: No Mercy. I am a fan of Marvel Comics and I love collecting their stuff. I don't have a lot of The Punisher memorabilia so I told myself, "Oh, what the heck, I'll get this game instead". The result? I was highly disappointed. The level design was very poor. The gameplay was very generic. The story was confusing. The multiplayer was mediocre. It simply sucked.

I remember that being announced a while ago. Is the game even still available anymore?

Fortunately, I rarely have to regret buying games since I borrow a significant amount of them from family and friends, and I only buy games that they probably won't spend money for and also so I could put some contribution back into the cycle. That being said, I recently purchased MK vs. DC and I'm regretting the decision a little bit since I feel the replay value of it isn't much. I've played it with friends and we'd often get tired of it after the charm wears off. I think it may be due to the lack of characters, but honestly, I can't put my finger on it, but it's a little boring to me.

Duke Nukem Forever. You'd expect a game based on a pretty good and influential classic to have some actual substance...But this...Just wait until you get to the first scene. I will admit there were quite a few inside jokes some of which I found funny. Unfortunately I had to bring it back for a refund, the crudeness just wasn't in my taste. I now read thorough reviews before I buy anything at all.

One game I have to admit I regret purchasing was Shadow the Hedgehog on the PS2. I remember watching the commercials and expecting the game to be really awesome. Plus, I was also a big fan of the Sonic the Hedgehog games so I was eager to learn more about Shadow and the truth about his past. Sadly, when I played the game I realized I had been fooled. The game played nothing like a Sonic game at all, even to the point were Shadow would use guns for combat. Everything about the game seemed so out of place that I never finished it. Probably the worst $40 I've ever spent on a game.

I know I've already put in a response, but I just remembered a terrible memory. I guess I just tried to forget it, but I was extremely disappointed with the Afro Samurai game. I was looking forward to it since it's one of my favorite cartoons, and I thought it had great promise since the premise was so interesting and I imagined a lot of mechanics could exploit a lot of elements found within the show. Ultimately, however, what I got was a repetitive hack-and slash game that felt so awkward and unfinished. I wish they had worked on this a lot more because I really think it could have been something great.

I'm probably alone in this sentiment but I was extremely disappointed by Devil May Cry 3. I bought it after seeing a bunch of positive reviews on it, but it was really difficult and aside from that, just a hack-and-slash game. It may have been that my expectations were too high, but after dying on the second level for the tenth time I called it quits and returned it.
