Games you simply gave up on?

Has been a couple or quite a few games that you simply gave up on? Like you started playing a game and either just never went back to it or just didn't like it enough to continue?

I have a few times, and a couple times have been more recent. Rage is one. I started playing a couple of hours of the game and did like what I played, but oddly enough I've not really had any desire to go back to it. It's an odd thing because there is no good reason why I haven't gone back to it. I just... haven't.

Another is actually Max Payne 3. Only picked it up a couple days ago and I have no desire to go back to it. Maybe one day. Just didn't grab hold of me like Rockstar's other titles. And on top of that the bugs. I had heard about them but didn't think I would experience them. I was wrong. I think overall I'm just not in the mmod to play a dark depressing game? I think I'm looking for more "fun". I don't know.

I have one game which may shock people here.

Red Dead Redemption.

It was one of the first few games I bought for my PS3, but just could never finished it. Of course I had heard how amazing the game was and really wanted to play it. But once I started playing it, it just wasn't that interesting for me and I never finished it.

Even after that I tried to pick it up a few more times and thought maybe I'll like it this time...but never happened.

I still keep hoping for the day to come when I will finish RDR!

I'll be honest here. I have a lot of games that I have up on. But here are some notable games that I have up on that you probably have played and finished:

Final Fantasy XIII - it's not necessarily a hard game, and the visuals are stunning, but my interest waned half way through (just like I did with FFXII)
Hitman Absolution - well, actually, I beat this game but I have up at the hard difficulty setting.
Ninja Gaiden 3 Razor's Edge - this is hard man. I didn't finish the game. Nuff said.

This would be where I tell you you are crazy and that you should get off the forums and play RDR to the end! But I'm going to share a secret with you buddy...

*whispers* I couldn't get into RDR when I first picked it up. Tried again and still couldn't! But third time was the charm because I forced myself to play til the end, and now it's my favourite game of all time (the only game that has potential to de-throne RDR is GTA V)! You just need to push through. Trust Haze, once you reach the end - you will say to yourself "Haze was right" :p

I have 2 games that I could never finish. One of them is Transformers the game. This game is honestly, the hardest game I have ever played. I cannot get past this one mission. I have tried and tried but with no luck. I simply do not know what to do at one part of it. I have still got it, but I should really trade it in. The other game is Far Cry 2. I don't know why but I don't like it. It is one of the first Far Cry games I have played, and I have heard so much good comments about it. But I find it rubbish. I don't like the shooting style on this game, or the graphics. I wouldn't usually complain about the graphics, but with the poor shooting mechanics it makes it unbearable. Other games I like. Well maybe not FIFA much, but I am more of a shooter guy.

Sure, generally because they are either so broken or so uninteresting I can't be bothered. 99 Nights? I think was the name of one of them. That said occasionally I'll find that I've taken a game out of the console to try something new, and then I just never bother to put it back in for some reason.

Oooh!

That's exactly what I needed man! Some motivation to play the game! I have heard it's amazing a ton of times, but this example now really motivates me to want to pick it up and play it!

I guess the first thing I do tomorrow after coming from college is playing RDR. :P

I played a few hours, thought "yeah, this is pretty cool"..left it for weeks, played a bit more and left it again..I just dont feel like continuing..hmm...think Ill just ebay it.

Another for me is Gran Turismo 5.
I used to love racing games and bought this thinking it may get me back into it but no..Ive played a some, but it hasnt hooked me at all.
Its the Academy Ed too,I havent used the download code so may as well ebay that too.

But RDR! COME ON! This game is awesome! Get back there now!..lol

I couldn't deal with more than 2 hours of FFXIII, they really ruined it. Like Hitman Absolution, after the first playtrhough, it didn't have much to go with, that stage-type of levels really threw me off.

One game that i started and 10 minutes in i was like "oh damn, i don't want to continue even if people pay me" was Batman: Arkham City. I managed to finish it, but still, it felt like i was controlling a flying tank all over the place.

Uncharted 2. Hate hate hate HATED that game. I thought it was going to be a sandbox type of game, but, instead, it kept insisting that I do things a certain way in order for me to advance. No, thanks.

Oh funny you mentioned that game. That was actually the very first title I bought for my PS3. I was a huge racing games fan then and had really high hopes of it.

But damn, as soon as I played it I just didn't like it. 2 years+ and it's still sitting in my library collecting dust...

Yea, I couldn't bring myself to finish the previous Far Cry. I purchased the third one in the series hoping maybe they it would be better off then before. I also heard and read a lot of good reviews about the game so I figured why not. It's actually a pretty solid game with a great concept, but for some reason, the gameplay just tends to get too stale for me quite quickly. I can't even bring myself to finish the final last missions of the game, when I estimate I'm probably 90-95% done with it anyways.

I liked FFXIII, but I can see why people would not like it. That said why did you feel Batman: Arkham City was bad? The controls were pretty tight and once you got several of the upgrades it became the best experience ever. Maybe your like Brock from Cracked.com? He seemed to have issues with it too.

I'm doing this right now with Torchlight 2 on PC. Something always comes up when I go play it, too. Yesterday, I started it up and my PC was being dumb so my PC crashed. Didn't feel like playing after that. But most of the time, I just feel like playing it but I end up playing something else for some reason. It's odd.

Right now, that game that just made me give up is Swords & Soldiers. I want that 100% SOOO badly. But that challenge with the stupid rolling rock is just killing me.

I broke my controller because of Demon Souls. That game has made me rage multiple times I just had to give up. I'm thinking of giving it another try, but I have a feeling it's not going to end well.

I think I gave up on Dead Space Two. It just started to get boring to me. The storyline wasn't going anywhere to me. The first one was fine but the second one was killing me slowly.

There are so many. I either gave up because the game was too challenging or because I didn't want to spend any more free time on it. I've given up on marble madness, mario 64, the original zelda, red dead redemption, mario 3, persona 4 and a whole lot more. I got what I wanted out of the games and moved onto something else that was fresh. Not a big deal. I still had my fun.

A lot of games, though I don't know how many PS3 games I've given up on. Technically a Vita title, but I stopped Atelier Totori. I guess I just got tired of the system and stopped at one point.
