I would be surprised if that happened. I agree the announcement doesn't make a lot of sense right now. The mod is still better than the standalone at this point. My question is - isn't H1Z1 a direct competitor?

There does seem to be a line of thinking that you can never have too many zombies (films or games).

I'd say DayZ even though it was announced, won't be out for like more than a year. I think we can see it sometime in the fall of 2015 hopefully the PC version is finished then too. I do think it is weird having H1Z1 and DayZ at the same time, conflicting games pretty much but no doubt DayZ is more hyped and probably better.
