Guess I'm getting to old to game.

Never to old to game if I don't play cod for a week I feel like I'm out of touch. Plus nothing wrong with checking Internet to get past a bit in a game when I was younger you had to wait till a game magazine published a guide.. It was a simpler time.

I remember game guides in magazines being more for a specific part then the full on magazines for this particular game popped up. It really was a simpler time.

Yeah, used to buy mag's to keep up to date with game news and reviews,as well as those demo discs or video game discs on the cover :o For PS1 and PS2.
Now I usually head to IGN or Gamespot for much of the game news and reviews, and ofcourse for demo's we have PSN store since PS3.

I loved and miss demo discs. It's cool that demos are out for PS3 and will be beyond, but nothing beat having a disc of like 5-6 demos and a few trailers. Since it was all on one disc you would play them all and not eat up much time. There were a few demos I played over and over because I liked the game so much.

Magazines were good for bathroom reading and reading in class. I loved the console-specific magazines: Official PlayStation Magazine and Nintendo Power. Computer Games was another favorite.

Dude, not gaming for that long is worse than not riding a bike for that long. You kinda know a bit, but, when they come out with a bike that has a bajillion features and ways to ride it, I doubt the familiarity is there. So, get familiar, keep gaming, and have fun! Don't give up and age has nothing to do with it. Unless you're so old you can't move. Then you'd be like 120 years old. :P

Saying you're too old to game is like saying you're too old to read a book or write a book or even write your own signature. Age has no limits, unless you're planning to be a skateboarder when you're 85.

If your thumbs and index fingers can move, you can still play games.

...now once games go 100% motion-based and you have to be actually active, stand, and stuff then there's a certain time when you go "F*** this, I'm too old for this. I'm gonna play PS5...damn kids and their PS10. Back in my day, PlayStations only had one digit and didn't come with a bodysuit and DualGel."

I also remember going shopping with my mum and asking for a pen and tissue to note down cheats out of magazine I wasn't allowed get. It's all coming back sonic level select up down left right a+c and press start.

Those were the days...before they started putting the magazines in that damned plastic. Like how do I know I want to buy this magazine if I can't read it?! D:

I remember the good old days of "cheat codes" -thanks to trophies and achievements those are gone. I guess you can still cheat with PC games.

Gaming has changed. I remember getting friends together to play Goldeneye 4-player on the N64, now you just play with some random people over the internet. Chances are one of them will be calling other people names. Too much social media in games now! Like I can post on Twitter and Facebook with my PS4 -I don't even use Facebook, its just a Diary for women now it seems.

If the NES days where like it is now, we all would of seen "Thank you Mario! But our Princess is in another DLC"

You'll get back into the swing of things. When you don't play for 13 years, it is tough to get back into it. Hell, if I don't play for a few weeks, I tend to be rusty and usually takes me a good hour or two to reconnect. Someone said it before. Games have changed a lot in that time. If I go back to a PS2 game, I find it clunky and awkward (though going back and playing that way somehow feels right, lol). Then go back to modern games and see how much they have advanced.

Hell I remember when I went from my PS2 to PS3. When I first bought my PS3 a few years back, I picked up Modern Warfare 2. I played a lot of Battlefront and TimeSplitters on PS2 and thought I was good at FPSers. Nope. Got my ass handed to me to the point I never wanted to play online. After practice when I got Black Ops, gave all those bastards online a run for their money :D

All of this is factual. I'm so glad there wasn't DLC in the NES days.

I've been playing video games for almost 15 years and I'm 16! Since I was about 1 and a half I've been playing video games and I still play them! I'm really good at playing video games!

I miss the good old days lol Used to import PC-Engine games and my wife, who was my friend at the time, would translate then as I play. Some of my best memories growing up was of gaming. heck for graduation I got a SNES and my sister got a car.

I am with a lot of the folks here...it's not your age, but your rusty skills. There is no doubt that the games are harder...just from an operational standpoint. I had been out the game so to speak for many years when I tried to jump back in a play Infamous with my son. I literally got dizzy just watching the 360 degree camera views and had no idea which button was for what function. But, what I did find over time was that I was able to practice some and get better. Just like with any other endeavor, it's all about practice and game play in order to create the muscle memory to be any good at it. Just keep at it if you really want to play and you will improve. If you don't, then maybe this is a good place to call it quits.

That tank level in bf4 was a lil hard, but i kept at it and finish it. just took my time.
But yea your probably just rusty. it happens to me when i switch from game to game.

What do yall think Is the average age of gamers. I think it has increased as those who grew up gaming with the original nes, like myself, have continued gaming. Im 36 and have no plans of stopping. I don't care what anyone thinks. The experience of playing an amazing game is unlike any other. Better then movies because you actually control the protagonist and become a part of the story.

I heard one statistic that the average gamer is in his mid-30s. I'm 27 and all my friends and most of my coworkers game (and we're all in our mid-20s). But I'm part of internet communities that gamers are in their early 40s who's first console was an Atari. So I would say 25-40 is your main group. And the main gamers (25-35) would have been the ones playing since the days of the NES.

Your right. Its a lot of people that grew up with NES and kept with it. Onison why you play is why I play. You are part of the story, not sitting mindlessly watching a movie or watching TV. Games involve thinking and strategy and a lot of times, devotion to time.

How old are some of you guys/girls on here?

I'm nearly 39 and have been gaming for 35 years since Atari VCS days.

I remember when computer magazines had listings in that you had to type in yourself if you wanted to play a game!

Oh man I'm soooo old.....

I have just finished the story on Assassins Creed and am quite decent on Resogun so like to think I'm as good at gaming as I ever was (when I'm not partaking in a beer or 3 anyway!)

Stick with it as it beats vegging out in front of Eastenders in my book.

Feel free to add this old-timer as a friend if you want to game on Fifa, Need For Speed or Killzone sometimes UK time 7pm -9pm.

I'm turning 35 later this month. Played PS, PS2, then PC until I bought a PS4 a couple of months ago. GT, GTA and Rachet & Clank have been my favs. CoD on PC, and on PS4 now.

Madcat32, I'll try to add you for some NFS.

When I got the PS4 and Ghost, I knew I was going to suck. Well, everything is new, I can't expect to be good! I just decided to grind and play an hour or two every night, even if I did'nt enjoy it that much. And hey, I'm getting better and am having fun! Looking forward to some better games, I have Ghost, Rivals and will get Watch Dogs. Looking forward to GTA and GT games as well. And hope the next CoD will be good, Ghost is just not as good.

Anyway.. A new thing takes practice to master. I hav'nt played a lot yet, but I'm seeing my progress, and how controls becomes automatic, I don't have to think as much, I just do it.

Grinding is key!
