Has anybody ever "double-dipped"? (PS3/PS4 games)

Odd title? I thought so too :D

Anyway. So I wanted to ask - has anybody ever played/bought a game on the PS3, perhaps even completed it, and then got it for the PS4? Either straight away or later down the track?

Say for example Battlefield 4 or Need for Speed: Rivals. You completed them on the PS3 and then you bought it on the PS4 as well?

Been thinking about doing this with Call of Duty: Ghosts. Not really a COD fan, but that was one of the rare ones in the series where I really liked the campaign (last great COD game to me was Modern Warfare 2). I've played Ghosts on the PS3 and been thinking about grabbing it for the PS4 as I imagine it would look extremely nice with PS4 graphics.

I had Ghosts on PS3 mainly cause at that time most of my clan buddies didnt have PS4 so..however I ebayed it a while back now.
I still have it on PS4.Though havent played it in a while.
Yes,it does look better ofcourse, but as usual with same dev doing cross gen games it just looks like a beefed up PS3 game.
Dont get me wrong,it looks more solid, depth is better, lighting, particle effects etc but if you are wanting the PS4 version to do the campaign only why bother? It wasnt that great to begin with. Not many CoD campaigns are I think, its mostly about the multiplayer.
Unless you can get it for say $20 or so I say dont bother.
On the other hand if you play MP a lot (which I know you dont) then yeah,it is worth it cause you can see everything way better (as above)
Play the PS4 for a while then go back to PS3 and it looks a little flat and washed out in comparison.

So,as for me and what I have double dipped.
Ghosts obviously.
Had GTA V on PS3,will get the PS4 version.
And I did download Metro Last Light for free as PS+ member, only just started it,but Ive deleted it as Ive already pre-ordered Metro Redux for PS4.

Thanks for the advice Oberon! I guess I'm just desperate to play SOMETHING on the PS4. Been eyeing everything on the PS4 available at the moment but just trying to find something I would like.

I did actually buy MGSV: Ground Zeroes for the PS4 but had already played it on the PS3. Although I'm yet to actually play the PS4 version as of yet...

I did with Tomb Raider and Black Flag. I did it because the games were limited and nothing interests me back then. Also, I was curious to see how much difference the games looked between last gen and this gen. Now that this gen's hype is fading, I won't be doing it anymore. I'm buying The Last of Us Remastered only because I didn't buy it the last time.

I double-dipped with Tomb Raider--one of my favorite games from the last five or so years. However, I did not beat it a second time whilst on the PS4 due to time restraints.

I did with COD Ghosts but only because a few of my main gaming friends just got the PS4 and that game. I bought it used, so it made more sense than paying for my xbox live account that expires this week.
The only other game that I know I will do this with is GTA V when it comes out. Unless you count Oddworld New n Tasty because I have bought Oddworld games about 3 times in the past :p

The only game I did this for was Marvel Ultimate Alliance which I got for PSP and for PS3, but both versions have some significant differences between them so I don't know if that can be counted. My nephew who's addicted to Minecraft forced my brother to buy him the game for all devices though - that's including a laptop, tablet, and on PS3, which I guess is okay since he does use them all anyway so it's at least not going to waste.

This is not what I thought this thread was going to be about at all!

As to the actual question, nope, never done it with the PS3/PS4. I did buy Dark Souls on the PS3 and then buy the PC version off of Steam though. Still haven't finished either version though.

I did this with Assassin's Creed IV. I bought it for PS3 and put a few hours into it. But so much other stuff I had to play kept coming out so I never had time to really get into it.

But when I was done with Infanous I noticed a huge gap in my PS4 game schedule so I got ACIV for PS4 and played it seemingly forever..

I think you should skip Ghosts since a new one is coming in a few months. Since you enjoyed the campaign, better graphics won't give much of a better experience. As for multiplayer, it's too late to get in the game now because most of the players are already top leveled.

I actually did own Ghosts for both the PS3 and PS4. I'm not sure why I did that, but I think I got one of the versions at a huge discount anyways. It's a fun game on both consoles, although it suffers from the same old feeling of doing the same thing over and over again. I'm looking forward to Advanced Warfare, although I won't be buying it for two consoles. I don't think I'll do that again for a long time, actually.
