Has your PS3 ever crashed/failed?

Yeah my old PS3 used to crash somewhat repeatedly. In the end it YLOD and had to get a new one, couldn't wait for the PS4, I had The Last of Us to play!

No, I've had my PS3 for about 4 years now and it's never crashed or failed on me. The only major issue I've ever had with it is the Internet browser for the system which can freeze pretty easily. Other than that, everything else has always been pretty smooth. Hope the PS4 remains the same in that aspect.

For me, my PS3 has never crashed or froze. The only hurdle I jump through is that I use a bluetooth headset with mine as a mic, and sometimes its drops the synchronization for no reason. Just like my PS2, I have never had a hardware problem with it. I'm grateful they built these things to last, for the price we paid for them.

Unfortunately, sometimes my PS3 after around 4 hours of use will crash mid-way through a game, which thankfully has a simple fix of turning it off and back on. However, I believe that this is a result of when I used to turn off my PS3 by pressing the power button, and then disconnecting it from the wall. I believe that PS3s are not supposed to be disconnected from the wall each time you turn it off, but on occasion I think that it should be fine.

I never had a problem even once! runs like a Champ even today!!
sort of feel bad for other consoles "that will remain nameless" that died in the first few months.

I crashed once on Skyrim, after playing a few hours on it. I think the high end games are a problem to the playstation 3 console.

My system has crashed a few times over the years. But I've had my PS3 since launch so that's to be expected. The good thing though is I've yet to lose any data as a result of it. I have PS Plus anyway for my game saves just in case.

My current one crashes like all the time ill be playing a good game of cod then suddenly id crash and either lose my saved game or something because my ps3 is corrupt i have had to reset it countless times because its became corrupt now i just don't use it for that reason i will lose all my information... its quite frustrating but oh well PS4 is here soon so i'm happy.

My PS3 would crash after playing skyrim for a long time. But then again I do leave my PS3 on for a while. hehe. My PS3 would only crash when i leave it on too long like an over night thing. I usually do a lot of all nighters with my ps3, i'm not suprised if it crashes.

I actually think that was a skyrim problem asianboi, because my Sony only ever had difficulties with this game a well.

No, my Playstation 3 has never crashed on me. My Playstation 3 has run smoothly since the first day I bought it. I absolutely think nothing has ever happened to my Playstation 3, that would have a negative effect on my perception of Sony.

I've had my PS3 freeze up a few times but I believe it was more game specific. I usually never had problems but it's crashed multiple times while I was playing Fallout 3 - but I've never had to buy anything new for it or replace it. I simply just restarted it and continued playing from wherever it auto saved. I would sometimes run into the same error at the exact same spot in the game, so I think it was just the game.

Occasionally my Playstation will freeze. This is annoying as I will have to force reboot it and loose all progress that I had made in the game. I did notice however that this happens with some games more than others. For example, I noticed that my Playstation freezes up more than usual when playing Skyrim or Uncharted 3. I don't know if anyone else has found this to be the case. But it is extremely annoying. Oh well at least Skyrim autosaves. Plus this doesn't happen more than say... once a week. Also my playstation 3 is quite old now. I'm still using the one I purchased back when it was first launched. I guess it's running pretty perfectly if you compare it's performance to that of say... a laptop that I had owned for the same amount of time. Actually I've gone through three computers in the space of time I've had my playstation.

My PS3 freezes a lot but when I delete all messages, all unused game data, games I don't play and delete movies and music off then use the factory settings to wipe the database. All is good! Oh and cleaning out your ps3 using a medium-power vacuum or a 'can of air'
