Hd dvds

I'm unable to play HD DVDs on the PS4 (and don't ask, I do not mean Blu Ray DVDs, HD DVDs are different). I went into the FAQ section of us.playstation.com and was given the answer:
"Yes, you will need to download and install PS4’s day-one system software update 1.50, and then activate your Blu-ray Disc video capability with a one-time activation through the internet in order to play Blu-ray Disc films and DVD video content.."
But the one thing they didn't tell me... IS HOW TO F***ING ACTIVATE IT!
So please, tell me how if you know.

That's because they don't support HD DVD. No one does. The medium is completely dead and has been since like 2008. It also takes a different laser than DVD and Blu-Ray. Their FAQ as you posted it is also talking about Blu-ray video capability and they say nothing of HD DVD.

HD DVDs haven't been supported by any products for over 5 years now. The Xbox 360 had an HD DVD extension but no Playstation products ever had any support for them. I don't know how you got hold of any HD DVDs but they are a dead format.

BlueRay is in and DVD is out. It does suck but it is what it is. Gotta keep that DVD player around for a while longer.

The reason this is the case is because of a major deal signed that made BlueRay the only video compatible source for PlayStation.

Yeah... HD DVDs were a thing, seriously they existed as a thing, for about one week. The PS4 is a bluray player which is different than an HD DVD player...

Blueray players are backwards compatible. If you have a blueray player, it will play DVD's.

Can confirm. The laser that reads Bluray can also read DVDs, but not the other way around.
