Help. New PS4

Brand new ps4. Turn on goes straight to screen asking to plug controller and press ps button. Do so and it displays safe mode options quickly before turning itself off. Anyone encountered this or any suggestions?

It sounds like a really odd bug. I'd suggest contacting Sony Support, they'll be able to help you with this.

I phoned Sony and they said to take it back to the retailer. As they are closed for the day I decided to try what my friend suggested. Left it unplugged for 30 mins then tried again and all working now.

You could try doing a software restore as well, seeing as nothing is loaded you are not losing anything.
