Help with my ps4 controller

Hi everyone and thanks for checking this topic.

I have a weird problem with my ps4 controller.
So far I had no problems with the controller at all. Today I was watching netflix and everything was ok until the buttons on the controller stopped working.
All buttons like triangle, square, circle, x, share, options or PS stopped working BUT I was still able to use the analog sticks without a problem.

I though maybe it just froze or something, it coldn't have died because the battery was full. So I turned the controller off and tried to turn it back on but it didn't work. I couldnt turn it on using the PS button or by connecting it my USB cable.

I have searched around on the forum and came across a way to reset the controller. So I took a pin and pressed the reset button, holding it for about 15 seconds. Then I have connected it to the ps4 using the USB cable. The light on the controller turned yellow for few seconds and turned off. Still didn't work. I repeated the process about 2 times but the same thing happens.

I am still searching the web for any fixes but nothing yet so it would really help if any of you would know how to fix it or if it's even possible to.

And before anyone says to take it apart and try to clean it, I would do that but I don't have anything that would fit the screws in the controller so can't do that until I can get a hold of one.

Looks like you've covered all the bases apart from taking it apart for a possible clean.

Well,is it still under warranty? You could get the controller replaced from where you bought it.
I presume you are talking about the controller that came with the console? I know of people that just brung their controller back to place of purchase and had it swapped for a new one.
That is ofcourse,if it's still under warranty.

I'm afraid that I don't have a warranty for it. The PS4 and controller than came with it was a Christmas present right after it came out. If there was warranty on it then I never got any information and the person who bought it can't remember so I can't do much with that.

I also bought a 2nd controller, also official and the same color so it's hard to tell which one broke, but the 2nd one was bought from Argos and didn't come with warranty unless I was prepared to pay monthly.

Small update on the controller tho, it worked this morning, I was able to turn it on but only for about 5 minutes and then it stopped working again.

I will try to take it apart and see if it's just some simple connection issues or dirt. But if that didn't work I might have to buy a new one.

If anyone knows what could have caused it or how to fix it, any ideas would help.

I hate to say it Bastek, it sounds like your controller is toast. You did everything right in terms of troubleshooting but it sounds like it could be an internal problem. Especially since you say it worked and stopped working again. Maybe it's the battery not pulling enough juice to power all the buttons and circuits? That could very well be the last thing you try (replace the battery). Or maybe someone spilled something on it that you don't know about and fried some of the circuitry. It's just weird some buttons work and others don't (I had that happen to a PS3 controller and I deduced that certain internals were messed up).

I personally would just spend the 60 bucks and buy a new one and keep the old one for parts. And maybe one that's a different color so you can distinguish the broken from the working ones

I fixed that problem by moving joy stick 30 times quickly in all 4 directions and then blew in the controller to get the dust out and it worked.

Ah yes.
A while back on my urban camo controller my left stick when I press down on it to run in FPS games wouldnt work properly all the time and I also found that out.
Clicking it in and up,right,down,letf etc about 30 times and blowing in where the stick is attached actually did seem to work.
