How Durable is the Sony PS 4

No man, I still have my Playstation, Playstation 2 and my PSP running games perfectly even though they went through a lot, this was for consoles, as for the brand, I have a small Sony TV that's older than me. I don't know what kind of damage you're talking about, but it must be you not the durability of the console.

The only PS console that gave up on me was the PlayStation 1. I think after 5 years of use, it finally broke down on me. The lens refused to move and read the disks. As for my PS2 and PS3, they're still working quite good. My PS2 has some trouble recognizing some games (that are pirated. Lol). My PS3 is still a beast. I haven't experienced any major problems with it. I expect the same with the PS4.

i am very concerned with the durability of the ps4. out of all the consoles that i've owned, my ps3's burned out the quickest though i traveled with them more than any other systems. i hope there is an extended warranty offered on the ps4. i just have really bad luck with ps hardward compared to my nintendo and microsoft hardware. i hope they improved the durability on this next generation.

I think the PS3 is quite durable. I dropped it a couple time by an accident while playing it, and still works like a charm. So im going to safely assume the PS4 will be about the same, or maybe more durable.

There's a Youtube channel that tests how durable devices are by smashing or dropping them, they usually do that with cellphones but I'm sure they will test the Playstation 4 and the Xbox One. The video normally would come out as soon as the device release.

I think Sony is becoming more and more proficient at building their machines, and what may have caused the faulty mechanisms of earlier consoles was probably just the fact that they were just learning about the business and mechanics of it all as well. Nowadays, they should be a lot more knowledgeable and capable, so I am expecting a lot more from these companies, and especially Sony because I've been using their PS3 Slim for a few years now with little to no complaints regarding its durability.

They're not as reliable as they used to be. My PS2 is still working fine after all these years. However, I'm on my second PS3 and I have two friends that are on their third. The cost of manufacturing these high tech consoles is much higher than what it use to be so coporations like Sony and Microsoft will cut corners where they can.

However, we really won't know how reliable the PS4 is until maybe a year or two after it's released.

Well the last two posts in this thread were complete opposites. I tend to think that Sony is making less durable consoles as time progresses. My original playstation still works. My playstation 2 died but the next one that I bought worked fine for years and still works today. The playstation 3s have been duds for me and my friends. We've all been through at least one that crapped the bed. Some of us are on our third PS3. PS4 better be more durable.

The body of the PS4 looks very premium. I would be surprised if it could stand a blow or two easily. Sony is know for making hardware that lasts. My PSX and PSP are still working.

I mean it depends on how cautious you are with your console. I have owned a lot of consoles in the past, and not one actually gave out on me. I honestly don't think there has been a console I owned that I actually broke. Breaking a console is hard in my opinion.
