I don't know if it is even known outside Germany as the character seems to be something I only know to exist in Germany.

I don't know if they did that too in Germany, but wasn't there a TV show where you could call there and play the game with your phone? It was such a strange thing back in the day, i always wondered how that worked, because most of the kids that phoned in really sucked at it.

Yea I know the character Hugo.
He is pretty known by people who were born in the late 80's and 90's in Denmark. (I am 1993)

He was actually created by two Danes if I remember correct, beside the games he has been a part of a program called "Godmorgen Danmark" (Goodmorning Denmark - Translated) were there quiz for kids and stuff like that.

Yeah, there was such a TV show. I think they controlled the character through the numbers they put in and the computer somehow translated it.
