If you could add any feature to the PS4, no matter how absurd, what would it be?

Then again, there have been plenty of real accessories that were a bit absurd. Some kind of voice app like Siri would be pretty cool. The more I think about accessories, the more it makes me think of how unnecessarily complicated gaming has become. A virtual reality attachment would also be cool, but that's probably a ways off at this point. Thoughts?

I agree with you that a virtual reality attachment would be cool. You're right to say that such technology won't be ready for the PS4 but I don't feel that it is too far off. So far the only VR equipment I know about is Oculus Rift and I feel that it has made quite a bit of improvement. It's not ready for real good games like Modern Warfare and such but I feel that it might be able to start being used in the gaming industry within this decade.

I think a Sony version of the Oculus Rift would be fantastic as an add on, especially if it had many years to develop. I still think the actual Oculus Rift has a few years yet, but it would be really cool if Sony came out with a stunning virtual reality headset that competed with the Rift, perhaps we would have VR war!

I'd like to see them take multiplayer up a notch and finally make something good that more than 2 players can enjoy together. I think with all these advancements that we have been getting lately, they've overlooked this very important advantage that is ripe for the picking. Not only are controllers wireless anymore, so no more messy wires or buying converters to make 4 slots, but we also have online gaming now, which makes it even easier for more people to play together in the same game. I do realize that there are a lot of games that offer multiplayer both online and offline, but those are usually FPS games or nearly MMO type of games, and I'm referring more to the X-men arcade type of multiplayer.

Backwards compatibility? I think this is the most important feature that people want in games, is for them to replay other games but on a different console. Without it, people would think the company is just greedy for not implementing it.

Other than that, I think the Oculus Rift would be a pretty cool feature as well. It'll be hard to be aware of your surroundings, but still.

I wouldn't mind seeing something like how DVDs have double sides, a game would have two sides. Maybe a regular version and then a directors cut or if your playing something like a classic game, one side is the original and the other is an updated version with better graphics. But hey, its just something I thought of off the top of my head that I can't recall seeing in my life time.

Make it all backwards compatible, all the way back to the PS1. You could play all your games with no worries and without having to buy them a second or third time!

Virtual Reality glasses would be very cool, I know there are glasses like this available already instead of using a TV. But if Sony made some compatible glasses of their own that would be easily compatible direct with the console then that would be an amazing piece of tech kit for the future!

Video recording/Streaming services, Oculus Rift support, Screenshot capability, and USB external drive support, for storing things like movies music, or recorded footage.

Yeah, I do think it's pretty lame that the PS4 and Xbox One supposedly won't have backwards compatibility. I remember one of the official statements saying something along the lines of the fact that they want to "focus on new games," so they chose not to include it as a standard feature. As someone else pointed out, that would mean that you'd have to connect two separate consoles at once just to play an older game. It's not like the technology isn't there, so I don't really understand the logic.
