If you could add one feature, what would it be?

Another vote for backwards compatibility, here… I would have probably stomached the high price tag and got one by now, if it had. Whilst I don't think it's essential, it would have been a huge bonus.

Going back to the 'two different models' discussion further up the thread, in the past I've mentioned not so much an improved model with better graphics, but a PS4 'Lite'. Basically what we see now, without all the added modern-trend garnish of online compatibility. Not everyone wants to play or speak with other people and not everyone has top of the range internet in order for this feature to work sufficiently. It could undercut the standard PS4 by quite a considerable margin. Basically a "plug in, slot in a disc and play" console. From a personal perspective, this is all I want. A PS4 console you could buy PS4 discs for, slot it in and play. No costly subscriptions, signing up or signing in required (if I knew how to or whether my internet could cope, that is…). You, the controller and the console with decent single player games - no more. The way it used to be and the way it worked well. It would be bliss to me…

If such a thing was on the market here and now, I'd have had one already bought.

What will you do you when one day in the future when games are digital download only,no more physical discs?

Personally I loathe when that day comes as I have said before in other threads, internet speeds,ISP prices etc vary greatly around the world and that's one reason I hate digital download only.
Not to mention getting ripped on the PSN store for new releases.
Downloading a 50GB game now for eg would take agessss for many.not to mention would eat up peoples monthly bandwidth allowance.
And so Im glad at least for this console generation we still have discs.

There would be a very high chance I would hang up my controller for good. I already feel I'm entering my final years of console gaming anyway, simply because it's becoming too complicated for me. I just want a console to play games. That's what I buy a gaming console for! I don't want the internet (got a laptop for that), I don't want Netflix (or whatever it's called), I don't want to share pictures, talk to someone on the other side of the world or any of this other garnish. I really don't understand the ongoing push/craze towards online gaming or the need to socialise. No one has ever shown me how to go about it or what to do in order to make it connect to the internet or how to set up accounts. Everyone else seemed to just …'know'… how to do it when it all started. It's gone right over my head completely and this bandwagon has very much left me behind. Not only that, it's a way of fleecing the gamer of even more money when it comes to subscriptions to continue playing something they've already paid for.

Not only that, as you've already stated and as I've also done in the past, not everyone has, can get or can afford the absolute best internet package the world has to offer. This is a very dangerous presumption by not only Sony/Microsoft, but by the producers and developers of games. It's also dangerous to presume that everyone wants to interact with other people (i.e – multiplayer).

I'm not completely objecting to it as at the start of the year, I stated I've already upgraded my internet package at home in preparation for a PS4. I now have fibre optic – but in my location that's barely 20% better than the dial up I had at the end of the 90's and I'm not exactly in a remote area. The difference between fibre optic and broadband here is also minimal. I really do want to give it a real try but having already seen various YouTube clips of both next gen consoles, it looks bewildering to me. A whole raft of troubleshooting errors and things you can do if it does work – none of which I want other than to slot in a disc and play…!

I've adapted to some of the biggest changes in gaming over the last 25 years. I've proven to myself before that I can do it. This online thing really is something I'm struggling to get my head around though. It does seriously worry me. For instance, I'm in no way technical when it comes to electronics. As/when I get my PS4 and if I can't get it to connect to the internet – it's 'game over' before I've even started. I won't have a clue how to resolve it…!

Obviously I hope I'm just over-thinking all this and it won't be as hard as I imagine it to be – but I really can see this happening…!

As far as the online thing goes,it really is simple mate.
You joined this forum right? I assume you have bought things on ebay or other online shops on your PC?
Its also easy on PS3/PS4. You just need to to fill out the fields when signing up for a PSN account and thats it.

If you wanna play online then do it for free (on PS3 anyway). If you wanna buy games digitally then you can link your credit card/debit card to your account,or now pay via paypal. Or even simpler buy a pre paid PSN card and do it that way.
Or,if purchasing digitally doesnt interest you at all then dont buy anything at all.Simple.
But by creating a PSN account you can also download demo's and trials, thats always a plus too.
