Who else thinks that importing and downloading your own music to the system would be awesome bring back some ps3 days

You can. Though it's a pain in the ass. It's not as simple like it was on the PS3 where you can drop music on the thumb drive or external hard drive and go nuts. They added it with version 2.0 I believe. Though I don't believe you can use a hard drive anymore, only thumb drive. Watch the video below for a guide on how to do it

I'm a huge spotify fan and been using it on PS4 on occasions when I needed my own soundtrack for the game

Also, Spotify doesn't have everything.
