Impossible MP rant

Is it me or is the MP on this game incredibly hard, I mean 1-2 MAYBE 3 kills to 12 (twelve!) deaths.
I suck at call of duty, I know I'm not good at cod mp online, My KDR is not 1:1 but damn. I wasn't this bad at cod 4, mw2, bo, mw3, bo2.

Umm...

I have not played Ghosts, but for the life of me I cannot see why it would be any different online than the others. And no, this is not me knocking the franchise. It is probably just a matter of you not knowing the maps, the tricks of the trade, having the top-tier guns, and so forth. Although to be honest, if you're anything like me, you're getting old! I have noticed with each new FPS that I play online, regardless of how well-versed I am with a franchise, a new generation of teens and kids will eventually kick my ass online. Its bothersome to no end, I promise.

You not alone my friend! I like you used to be able to enjoy COD. My KD on cod from COD 4 was like this

COD 4 1.5
WAW 1.3
MW2 1.3
BLOPS 1.25
MW3 1.2
Blops 2 1.3

to GHOST's just below 1

I've tried long and hard to get it back up and after 24 hours of playing it's finally starting to click.. .and there are 3 reasons that add up

1 - the maps -

Previous COD's the maps were fairly simple and there would be only 1 or 2 layers of places enemies could be in buildings as you turn corners. Not so Ghosts. Ghosts has sometimes 3 even 4!!! layers of places. In short the maps have SOOO many more levels it's impossible to cover each spot anymore as you turn a corner

2 - Softcore is now hardcore.

I still play some of the old cods ( MW3 ) and it's noticeable how many more bullets you need to kill on MW3 when compared to GHOSTS. This is an issue in ghosts as if you run and gun, or didn't quite get the drop on someone when you suddenly face them as you now don't get a chance to fight back. So many times i find people camping and they've killed me before i've even managed to get a shot off. In previous COD's you still had a small chance to leg it to nearest cover. IN short in GHOSTS it's whoever see's the other first wins.. which just means it's a campers paradise now

3 - Gun's and Lagg

Unless your a noob who wants to quick scope, the game really has no place anymore for LMG's, Pistols, or most of the assualt rifles. It's now only SMG's that are king. Most SMG's now have decent range and are quicker to handle than assualt rifles, so SMG v Assualt rilfe = SMG win. It took me ages to realize this but once i started using SMG's i got slightly better.

Hit detection is, at times appauling. It's to do with the dreaded lagg. Because it's now hardcore, and latency is a HUGE issue. I've lost count of the amount of times i seem to die in one bullet hit. That because on my screen i'm slightly behind the other player sometimes ( ie lagg ) which added to the hardcore ness of the game means i'm dead before i know it.

Add to that spawn system sucks... ( first video here i respawn right in front of the guy who had just killed me.. you see me pop back into the screen )

What irked me in the above video

1 - i respawned right in front of the guy who'd just killed me!
2 - pause the video at 45/46 seconds. My aim is right on the target and the trigger has been pulled... and i DON'T get a hit marker. Pause again at 52/53 seconds. My weapon is firing and someone walks right infront of me about 2 feet away, across the sights of a firing weapon and no hit markers... i die!
3 - Sometimes your luck just sucks... 2 times in a row, i'm just in the act of shooting someone when i get shot
4 - pause the video at 1.35. I don't get any hit markers ( i get one ) which is not actually the issue, The issue was, without any warning i was dead with no hit markers on me and i was killed by a sub machine gun. Then 1.48 into the video i go from firing to dying in one shot! When you look at my screen i was actually getting hit markers before the enemy had actually raised his weapon ( pause at 1.48 and 1.49 ). I was also firing before he'd even come around the end of the tank.
5 - I've been told that if you flinch ( ie when your firing and are hit ) your bullets don't count. This last clip had me throw down the controller in frustration. I fired a whole clip at this guys who walked infront of my firing gun sights 4 times, yet i died.

Ghosts is a bit different than past titles in the series. Specifically, the multiplayer maps are larger with the slightest increase in verticality. The fact of the matter is that players blend into the scenery more than ever before, so you might never see where you get killed from. A little more skill is required to be really good at the game because of these reasons and others.

For reference, though, here are my K/D ratios for CoD games I've played.

MW1: 1.39
MW3: 1.60
Black Ops 2: 2.50
Ghosts: 2.00

The style of play for multiple on BO2 fits my overall abilities in online gaming better, but I'm still pretty good at Ghosts.

Thanks for the constructive posts guys! Far more detail then I expected.
I came into this thread expecting people to just spam it and remind me how bad at games I am, so the posts are appreciative and reassuring.
Thanks.

It could very well be that I have less then an hour or 2 into it online and this rant is a little premature, I'm not discouraged yet. Still enjoy the game and the maps can be a tad overwhelming being new.... Now I can't wait to get home and play! :/

My K/d is actually higher on Ghosts than MW3 and BO2. Probably because when I shoot someone in Ghosts, they actually die. They don't sponge bullets, turn and kill me like MW3 and BO2.

Ghosts is all about learning the maps, and being accurate quickly. You can not miss any shots, or you will lose the gun fight.

I think the point that has been raised here as well is although the game has call of duty on the box, it DOES actually play very differently to other call of duties and takes a lot of getting used to. IE, play ghosts like the older cods and you'll have trouble ( like i did ) but learn what works, what doesn't, like SMG's are king IMO, and the fact the maps are a lot harder to work with as they have so few choke points or places where you just KNOW people will be.

Add all these little design tweaks and issues up make for one big difference at the end. I simply don't think Ghosts is fun to play because of the things above, especially as the hardcoreness of the standard mode, leads to campers more often and quick scopers.

My FPS KDR's range from 2 down to below 1 for ghosts for different games different series. ( destiny i was up around 2 for example :) , simply because ghosts is a different kettle of fish, plus i don't think it works very well. I find the shooters that work well, i do well ( funny that )

The only thing I have really noticed about Ghost that seems different is that I get mopped up when facing a team (if I am with randoms). On the past COD games I welcomed the challenge and usually end up doing good but on Ghosts I just back out when I see a team. Now I couldn't tell you why, it is just something I have noticed.

i'd have to attribute that to the lack of a proper UAV in Ghosts. That other team can call out your locations to eachother while you have to rely on crummy sat coms that IMO are under powered.

Between my big tlou session I managed to squeeze in a few rounds of cod in lastnight.
Grabbed the vector and put a stalker sight on it (flipped down to irons 90% of the time) and
I'm up to 8-10 kills to 14-15 deaths. This is where I'm used to playing, crazy.
Thanks for the insight and discussion on the matter guys.
I don't know if it's in my head or I changed my approach to the game but it seems to work lol.
