Injustice: Gods Among Us

I just looked up some gameplay videos of Injustice, and I have to say I'm not really that impressed. I feel like DC is really missing their mark again here with copying a Mortal Kombat style of gameplay, even though I think MK is a great game. I do think, though, that MK gameplay should be left to MK, and it really doesn't translate too well when it comes to super heroes you've been wanting to use to bash villains and vice versa. That being said, I really think they should have adopted the Street Fighter/X-Men/Capcom style way before. It has a much smoother gameplay, in my opinion, and it's a lot faster paced which is what I think superhero battles should be.

But like I mentioned, I've only seen the gameplay videos, so I'd like to hear from some of the members here who have actually played it. Do you agree with my sentiments or do you think this game is fine the way it is and they should continue on with this formula?

It's... fun, but nothing more than that. I think that the west is trying too hard to fit into the Japanese fighting games other than doing their own thing.
Why trying to copy when they should do something different?

I'm actually wanting the opposite of what you want. :D I'd love it if they just went with the SF formula since I, and most other fighting game fans, I assume are more used to it and it has become some sort of norm already that it might just be impractical to go against it. MK's fighting style is too unique to that game to apply it to any other game, much like how Tekken's fighting style is unique to itself. I think SF is the one that lends itself the best to fighting characters, as evidenced with the amounts of spin-offs and crossovers. Basically, I just want them to stop screwing round and finally give us something like the Mugen games:

I think it will be glorious.

If you're curious, then you should give the demo a try. Worst case scenario, you don't like it, and that's that. I personally enjoy the game very much, and I'm not really a fan of fighting games in general. I do like DC comics a lot, though, and there's a pretty good blend of characters involved (and more DLC to come). But like a lot of games, it isn't for everybody. I haven't even tried playing online because I've heard all people do is spam projectile attacks. My only complaint is that the difficulty levels fluctuate too much.

By the way, the game isn't really all that fast paced. The gameplay videos that have been released are played at an unrealistically fast rate for effect. It looks very chaotic, but even on medium difficulty the opposing AI character doesn't move around that much. The majority of gameplay videos are probably on the highest difficulty, and there are something like five difficulty levels in the game. Still, all fighting games take practice, but even I am able to win some of the harder matches with my somewhat limited ability.

I haven't played this game yet but I've heard good things about it from my friends. I'm a fan of fighting games and have been playing Tekken and
Street Fighter since they were first released. I like the idea of incorporating super heroes into it but worry about how balanced they are? SuperMan
is obviously super "human" were as Batman is just a rich guy. The gameplay did look good though and I like how you could knock your opponent into
a different environment and fight there. Plus you can also interact with the environment which looks really interesting.

I actually think that the gameplay, while not wholly original, is pretty decent. The fact that the move set mirrors the characters personality is an added treat for the fans of comic books or the superhero movies. The issue with the game in my opinion is its atrocious story line. Its just so in your face at all times and completely distracts from the game itself. The whole Superman is a killer schtick is annoying and the game probably has the worst portrayal of Wonder Woman in history.

I am going to purchase Injustice Gods Among Us. I was actually supposed to purchase this game when it first released. I just never came around to doing so. Now that I have confirmation that it is actually fun, I will definitely purchase it now. I have always been a bigger fan of DC than Marvel. I thought the DC Universe vs Mortal Kombat was a bit cheesy. Hopefully when I purchase this installment it will increase my interest in this game.

I liked the gameplay on this game as well. I remember when I was younger I use to love playing Mortal Kombat type games. As I got older, after playing the latest installments I came to the conclusion that they gameplay would never entertain me as much as it did when I was younger. Although after viewing Injustice Gods Among Us, I had to purchase it immediately.
