Is anyone else disappointed that it's going to be a MMO?

When they announced this game back in Sony Conference, I was super excited for it as it looked like Dragon's Dogma 2, but then they cam out and said that it's going to be a MMORPG. Really?

It's really dismaying to me. What about you guys?

Personally, yea, I'm disappointed. I mean, the idea seems okay, and the game will probably be full of "lore", but don't confuse that with actual story (unless the game takes a premise of the player being a "chosen one", and then promptly introduces you to every other player who also happen to be the one-in-a-million special person). It better have good gameplay, as not everyone is just going to tune in and fight through a dungeon with a bunch of people who don't stop jumping and spamming the button that makes their character scream. Always-online appears to be a new idea developers created to annoy a majority of gamers. If this game is full price, I'm not touching it.

Well, there is still hope.

Even if I haven't played the game, I understand how disappointed you are to hear this news. However, don't lose hope. Who knows, they'll release two versions; and MMO and just a simple RPG. :) Who knows? XD

Well... there isn't anything that says being an MMO will necessarily ruin it forever. It may also be that there have been complaints from other sectors that led to this. I mean Final Fantasy is putting out a MMO title themselves and for the last what? Four or five years they've been said to have lost their touch... I don't know. I also don't really care - I've outgrown MMO action and I ain't going back.

Yeah, that's totally true. I still have given up my hope yet. I think that they might just be able to pull it off... I might even get back int MMO gaming if it's that good.

...wait, what? Who said that it was going to be a MMO? All they said is that it is going to have important features connected to the internet.
Or are you one of those people that say that Dark Souls is a MMO?

I'm going to wait until the game is released, play the demo and maybe read a few reviews before I judge anything.
So far from what I've seen, the game looks gorgeous. And the fact that the game's levels are randomly generated really interests me. I haven't played a game like that since Dark Cloud 1 and 2.

I'm so done with MMOs. Looks beautiful, that's for sure. Random genned levels are so great, I love games that do that.

I am... I hope this isn't the sequel to Dragon's Dogma, because I would love a game that looks like that but is single player. I'm sick of MMOs and online games.

The thing that worries me is that the game looks to be focused on combat and when that's combined with an MMO it has to have combat that works when a multitude of people are attempting to fight the same creature.

The spell casting looks really cool but in the video I watched that's all the players used against the dragon they were fighting. No one ran up to it and attempted to use melee combat. Speaking of fighting the dragon, the footage I saw didn't show the dragon fighting back at all. It just kind of stood in the middle of the room swinging it's head around. I really hope some encounters become insane with a dragon crawling around the walls and ceiling while breathing fire and so on.

The visuals are stunning though. Especially for a free to play game.

The more I hear about this game, the more wary of it I become. I just really hope it turns out good because it might be the closest I get to a Dragon's Dogma 2 :(

I'm not. It depends on how the combat is, and how into the MMO genre they get. I've played amazing MMOs and I've played awful MMOs hopefully their able to create something that straddles the line between what console gamers want and what MMO fans like. All I know is that this is closest we'll get to a DD 2 for a while, so we all need to hold out hope that it'll be good.

I haven't heard about this game in awhile, I had no idea it was going to be an MMO. I love MMO games but a lot of times, it can make a game or break a game man. What on Earth! A lot of mmo's are just copy and paste features that get repetitive.

That's the unfortunate part about a lot of MMOs, that they copy and paste a lot of what makes other games in the genre successful. Still that doesn't mean that DD won't be any good. It just means that people will have to be a little more open minded even if their not fans of MMOs.
