Is PSN Required to use streaming apps?

I'm going from xBox to PSN for the first time.

I understand that you now are required to have PSN for online game play, fine, I get that. But is PSN required to use video streaming apps like Netflix etc? That's one of the things that became a deal breaker for me with xBox Live.

If you mean PS3, then there is not charge what-so-ever to play online. Completely free. This includes using Youtube as well as other video streaming apps. I'm not sure about Netflix however as we don't get that where I live.

If you mean the PS4, then you need a PS Plus subscription to play online with some games. that is up to the developer if they want to charge for online play. Most PS4 exclusives will not charge for online play though. But PS Plus is totally worth it in the long run anyways.

Outside of Netflix's normal subscription fees, no. PSN charges you nothing.
