Is the Vita worth it?

I was going to buy a 3DS since it has tons of great games coming out (Shin Megami Tensei, Pokemon XY, Smash Bros.) however since I'm getting a PS4 when it comes out, and the Vita will be compatible with most PS4 games, is it worth skipping the 3DS and getting the Vita instead?
Is the Vita games library good enough to stand up on it's own? Or should I only get one after I get my PS4?

To be honest, I think it would be best to get a Nintendo 3Ds now, and then later on, go ahead and purchase the PS Vita. Right now, I can admit that the 3DS has better gaming library than the Vita, and with the new Pokémon games about to be released it would be best to have one. So, in my opinion, I say wait a while to get the Vita after you buy a PS4.

I wouldn't say for the price and some of the games there are not tons of games getting released on it so i really wouldn't take the risk of purchasing it but its up to you its a ok portable console but is not the best.

If you were to ask this a year ago, the answer would be a strong NO. However, by the time the PS4 comes out, the answer will be a solid Yes. Like the 3DS, the Vita had a premature launch and forgot to bring a library with it. However, this fall and winter we can expect a lot of exclusives that are actually looking to be great games. I would wait until some sort of bundle came out, but there ARE games for it now and coming out (especially if you are an RPG fan).

Be a man and just do it already. Just joking. Honestly, I am really have fun with my Vita. I got the standalone wifi version but have been a PS+ since forever, so I had a ton of games to play before I even got the Vita. At the same time, I have full time job, so I had the money ready, in a sense. So if you have the money for it and you're thinking about getting it, why not? Obviously, if you don't have the money and you're thinking of purchasing a Vita, I wouldn't suggest picking one up. I am sure that it will go down in price sooner than later. There are rumours that it might even come bundled with a PS4 sometime.

In my opinion Vita, as a standalone console isn't worth it. If you're buying to use it with a PS4 however, then it would be worth it.

Not only would it be able to play all PS4 games, it might even double as a controller for some of the games.

But still I don't think it's fair to compare 3DS to Vita, both have very different games and goals. So if you can, try to get both.

Announced price drop makes this a different discussion. I still think the 3DS has the advantage because of the memory cards but I would make a decision based on the games that are out and announced (Borderlands 2, Yeah!). A key feature for me is the remote play from the PS4. They are saying most games will have it available. That is huge.
