Jumping the gun?

So... everyone is calling victory whether it's for the PS4 or the Xbone. The question I have to ask is if maybe we're jumping the gun. I mean flipping through my latest GameInformer I'm not seeing many previews for these systems and so... I mean they have nice hardware specs I suppose, but they have yet to actually be tested. Are we going to see RROD systems? Lagging like wow? Will there be large enough libraries? How will exclusives work out or are we finally going to move away from this? There are a lot of questions yet to be asked... so yeah. Then again I'm pretty sure I'm waiting for a while on this PS4 I'm most definitely purchasing.

It depends on what you're looking at. In terms of capabilities, I have heard some rumors about the comparisons between the Xbox One and PS4. In terms of overall quality, though: I think that's something that will be determined over time. A lot of it has to do with performance, and that isn't something you can know without having played both for a while (or at least until the problems start to emerge). It's definitely far too early to declare a "winner," but for the record I don't think it's really that relevant to begin with (unless the differences end up being huge).

I totally agree. So far we know the specs of the consoles but really that's about it. They can promise wonders all they want, but we will see how they will really perform. How often will they get the equivalent of the red ring of death, how will their online services be and what the exclusive titles be like after launch. This is the main reason why I don't buy into preorders. I find it much better to wait a while, a couple of months after the release/ about half a year. And only then buy it once the whole craze blows over.

I agree that we are mostly jumping the gun. Let's just hope that these consoles don't disappoint, so people don't lose faith in the market, because if these do fail then it would serve as a massive blow to the gaming market, as well as the general consumer market as well, given that there's so much hype behind these products.

I've seen the "rumored specs" and although I'm personally all for the PS4 they seem pretty close.
I'd also say it is quite early to be declaring one the winner, I know people have been saying PS4 got this in the bag since E3. Quite a bit of the stuff that really sounded bad for Xbox seem to be changing into something a bit better, so that's good for people that want the Xbox One. It will definitely take time for a "winner" to emerge, a good couple months after launch I'd say.
Although honestly I can't say it matters, most of those questions will be answered in time and a lot of people already know what they're going to buy.

Well, Sony won at E3 that's for sure. But I'm guilty of overextending their victory. I'm a Sony fanboy at heart and I go as far as label the PS4 as the winner of the console wars of the next generation. I know it's a bit premature but it's more of my hope and dream rather than the reality. I want the PS4 to succeed and with that, I'm already declaring them the winner.

Microsoft has done a lot of things after E3, until Comic Con is officially over, and everyone who had a chance to play the Xbox One gives their reviews, then we have to decide. We don't even know how the Xbox One functions yet, only at Comic Con, they put out 100 playable consoles. For all we know, it can be a lot better than the PS4, the graphics are a lot better, and great exclusives compared to the PS4. I guess we have to wait until the two consoles eventually release.

Perhaps, but the trouble again is why are there already "playable" consoles out? Is Microsoft rushing to the market again? Have they actually looked at what needs to be done in terms of construction and quality of materials? Did they completely junk the code or whatever that was suppose to support the stupid DRM thing everyone took issue with? I have to say again that I don't feel like Microsoft really sat down and took the time to consider everything. They just don't want to let Sony prey on their market share and that might actually hurt them more over the long-run.

I say that each should put their money where their mouth is. Of course they're going to flaunt all the capabilities before the consoles are released, but all we have to go on is their word. It doesn't necessarily mean they're wrong for doing it; otherwise, how would they sell any consoles? But I generally stray away from pre-ordering anything because I don't know ahead of time if it will be worth it.

Who will win, when it comes to the majority of consumers looking to purchase a next generation console, is quite frankly up to which company can market the best. This means that the passive aggressive blows that Sony has been flinging at Microsoft are in fact critical hits, and it only influences those millions of consumers who couldn't care less about the "war" between consoles to lean more toward their side.

While Microsoft is akin to a jukebox spewing buzzwords and phrases like "in the cloud" (I literally see this every other sentence), Sony is a lot more dynamic in their marketing approach and actually seems to get the point across more bluntly and clearer than Microsoft does. Based on these principles, I would like to predict that Sony will win this war of sales.

Then again, it could go either way. If Microsoft continues to change things that gamers did not like around, maybe even masking them as upgrades, it could be a pretty close call. We won't be able to tell until the reviews start piling up on the web and we know more for certain aside from some vague features and hardware specifications.

Right. The thing about pre-ordering is that you don't really know what you're getting yourself into. So on that point I'm going to wait until Sony hashes out their issues before picking one up. I am not going with Microsoft this time, because they are Liar McLiarfaces who have been playing the buzzword game rather than bring their A-game. So yeah.

I'd say a lot of people and media outlets are jumping the gun on judging, since we really have little to go on past speculation on most issues. This reminds me of the last release scenario: Sony comes out with the PS3 powerhouse for $600 and Microsoft comes out with the Xbox 360 with an earlier release time, better library, and for $400. Predictions flew everywhere, and the holiday sales for that year went to the Wii. Just goes to show you we've done this dance before, and people need to relax and just enjoy the games.

PS4 release winner in any case. For now, there is nothing that makes me lean towards the Xbox One or other things.

Then it is no longer 2004 or 2005! The industry knows how to build a console that will last long. There will be no problems of overheating in my opinion.

In the Line Up there a Battlefield 4. Just enough for me to get me to buy a PS4.
And I'm not worried because there are other Sony studios working to offer us a excellent games.

The PS4 than the Xbox One in all areas!

I think it is safe to say at least so far, PS4 is winning.
but in the end we will see.
but I'm more interested in just playing my PS4 and having fun then worrying who is going to win.
really can't wait for PS4 release!!
