Here is my 2 cents on this game.
This game is very much like resident evil with zombies mutating and dark colors throughout the game.
The control scheme is pretty weird but takes time getting used too.
The story has a weird start, you in a car and you go to a massive house and get knocked out by something lol....
There is no explanation to what's going on, not such a bad thing but it keeps you intrigued
Then all of a sudden you wake up in a room where there is a crazy butcher and then things get interesting....
The graphics and art work are awesome, they used alot of strategy inspirations from the last of us and outlast like hiding in cupboards and underneath the bed.
Haven't played enough to give it a full review but will get back to you guys when I play a bit more

Actually this is a game I'm considering to buy(later when the price dropped or could find a cheap used one).
I would like to know how is the game, since the trailers and gameplay movies gave me a mixed feeling.

I've seen around an hour's worth of gameplay via YouTube on this, maybe a little more. I've already decided that I want this game and now reluctant to see any more as of course, I don't want to spoil too much for myself.
From a spectator's point of view, it does look as if the controls may be a little 'clunky' and early Resident Evil in style but then again, I adored the earlier titles and played them to death, so I suspect it wouldn't take long to get back into the swing of things.
To make up for any shortcomings in this department though, I've enjoyed what I've seen. The imposing, grunting chainsaw guy at the start, the sheer gore you can create by simply swiping/punching the creatures (I've seen two literally explode into chunks…they won't be coming back to life following that…!) to some high quality lighting effects. Whilst the story takes a more 'Silent Hill' approach in bizarreness which I admire, the game appears to be in essence the format of earlier Resident Evil titles - only hugely updated. Neither in any way is this a bad thing. I actually admire it as this is when horror titles were near enough at their finest in my opinion. I like the survival element and the fact that you have to duck, dodge and hide on occasions. Outright shooting or attacking throughout really does bore me. As I've sated in other threads, the sheer amount of FPS titles on the market over the last five or six years has very much diluted and blurred the horror genre for at least a couple of years now - certainly where the mainstream developers and producers are concerned.
In that respect, anyone who is old enough to remember when survival horrors really were about survival and horror and not just yet another FPS in drag - then I think this could quite possibly be a 'must buy'.
As things stand, a PS4 bundle with either this or Alien : Islolation would be preferable. They're my top two choices so far. I’d be happy to take either – providing the price is right. There's nothing of this nature on Amazon at the moment though, which is slightly concerning (I've got a £50 voucher for them saved from last Christmas in preparation for my jump to the PS4…).
Here in the UK, The Evil Within it's currently listed as £45 at GAME - which is one of the most expensive retail sources out there. That price is the same as a newly launched PS3 game, so the price isn't wholly inappropriate and I can't grumble too much. I really wouldn't want to pay much more than £35 for it though… I very rarely pay full launch price for anything now and fortunately it’s unlikely I'll be seeing a PS4 this side of Christmas, so there's a chance of some sort of reduction in the post Christmas sales (fingers crossed…).

Sekelani: Let us know more of your thoughts on the game as you progress and your final verdict once you finish.
I am still interested in this,but probably more so when it's a little cheaper later on maybe.
Its not priority for me at the moment is all.

Will do. So far it's been interesting. It has the same feel and gameplay as resident evil with a mix of silent hill.
Zombies are very intelligent and can see you from a decent distance, it's easy to lose them as running away is the better option has ammo in this game is rare.
In this game you have levels and upgrades as expected. It starts from level 1-5 and each section can be upgraded from health, stash and ammo. Stealth kills eliminate enemies instantly but are hard to grasp as it takes a while to reach the enemy and head shots don't kill the zombies. It's more of a hit and run.
But so far I'm loving it......
Nothing comes close to the last of us, it's still my favorite game

Okay, so I'm on chapter 7 and all I can say is this game is NUTS....
It's been a great joy to play.....
It's very gory and gloomy.
I've been at it for the whole day on Saturday and this is what I can say......
It's not scary...haven't gotten any jump scares like outlast, but it's tactical and stealthy.... I'm playing on survival mode which is the medium difficulty which makes the game more enticing.
The game is twisted and feels like the character is dealing with many cut scenes that flow into one another when you complete each chapter, you here that sound like something is going to blow( you'll have to play to understand what I mean).
The further I go I encounter different type of zombies and some of them cannot be affected by stealth attacks, as they have 2 heads so shooting or running away is the better option...
This game is like a movie,it's rich in content but lacks a great story line.... It's very mixed up leaving you confused....
Maybe that was the objective.....
Other than that I love it!
I'll give this game a 9/10. Defiantly in my top 3 after the last of us lol

I am also enjoying it thus far despite the somewhat troublesome (i.e. clunky) controls. God knows how many traps I have set up in my attempt to disarm them. I am going to guess this is by fault of my own.

I tried to like this game. I love Resident Evil, but this game is just terrible.
1. Crappy black bars to help try to maintain the 30fps.
2. Very bad controls
3. Poor aiming system
4. Bad story/main protagonist
5. leveling takes too long with not enough reward when doing so.
6. Graphics are bad. Also makes it very hard to see.
These reasons have kept me from enjoying this game. It has some cool gory moments, but the frustration outweighs the possible good in this game for me.

I agree with some points...
But the graphics are great...not the best I've seen on ps4 but good... What type of Tv do you have? Does it Support 1080p?
There had been a recent update patch that supports 60fps and you can get rid of the black bars....
Leveling does take forever, which in a way is frustrating but also makes the game more challenging....
I agree with you about the story, it's very confusing but I wouldn't say ....

Are you sure? From what Ive read that patch is for PC version only.

I have a 65" LED 240hz TV. The graphics looks terrible in my opinion. Reminds me of a launch PS3 title. And the patch you mentioned was for the PC. I would consider trying to play this game again if the black bars were removed. Those bars really make hit hard to see anything in this game.
