Kingdom Hearts 3 Won't Be the End of the Series | TechnoBuffalo

Creator of the Kingdom Hearts series Tetsuya Nomura has recently stated that although Kingdom Hearts 3 will be the conclusion to the current saga taking place in the games, it won't be the end of the series. Interesting news as although I had heard this before, I'm sure many fans of the series did not and thought Kingdom Hearts 3 would be the last game.

That's interesting, especially considering how long it's taken to get to this point. I just hope the games continue to be of high quality like those that came before.

I'm not surprised with this. Final Fantasy is now in number XIV. I think Kingdom Hearts can do the same. Since the game's main features are the Disney worlds and characters and Disney is releasing movie upon movie every year, KH would not run out of material to use. KH is an important franchise that should not be discontinued any time soon.

I wonder where they will go with it then. I wonder if it will be kind of like the Final Fantasy games, or if they are going to go with a similar themed continuation.

There's two ways this game can go. They can explore various times through out Sora's journey which would cause a lot of fans to call on a very hard bound continuity to be established. I think its more likely that we're going to see more information about what Keyblades are and where they come from. So far we've only been exposed to a number of people and organizations that want the power of Kingdom Hearts and Keyblades, but there's something about Sora, Riku and all the life and story they've survived that's going to be missed.

can't wait for KH3 though.

There are many things they can do with the series after Sora's involvement in it. They do after all, have the entire Disney universe to explore, which now includes Marvel and Star Wars. who knows, maybe Darth Vader could be the new Antagonist of the series.

I don't think anyone is really surprised because Kingdom Hearts has such a huge fan following. The people who love the franchise are obsessed with it and would buy it no matter what. Though there are so many things that they can do with the game even if there is no Sora. I agree that the Disney universe has gotten a lot bigger and whose to say that they can't add Pixar.

Also whose to say they can't add Marvel, or Star Wars for that matter, the possibilities are really endless with this, just look at Disney Infinity, a game which combines all of them, and one of the best games ever in my opinion.

Exactly. The recent acquisistions by Disney have given Kingdom Hearts whole new worlds to explore and I would love to see them in the new game. Though I imagine that with Marvel at least we'll see the movie version of the characters in the games. I highly doubt that the comic versions of the characters, and let's face it the Avengers and Shield in the comics are dicks, would be that popular in Kingdom Hearts.

True, true, I am pretty hopeful that we will at least see some form of Star Wars or Marvel additions to the game. I suppose I just really want to see a lightsaber keyblade!

I saw that news and honestly I do not want Kingdom Hearts to end up like Final Fantasy (I'm hoping Nomura would revive the series for us with Final Fantasy XV). I do want to see a lot more of Kingdom Hearts though and I'm very grateful that Enix doesn't seem to be milking Kingdom Hearts for all it's worth. Maybe Disney wouldn't allow them to. LOL. But I have this gut feeling that the next Kingdom Hearts after Kingdom Hearts III may not feature Sora as the main protagonist. And I think that would be interesting too. I love Sora but new faces are always good for games.

I don't see why they would ever end the series. It makes loads of money for them and there are always new worlds to explore. I hope that they finish Sora and Kari's stories soon and move onto a new protagonist however. Also I hope that the wait for KH4 is far shorter.
