Longer Vita Games

So, after a while of playing the Uncharted game for the Vita I started to wonder how long this thing goes. My buddy who owns the Vita I was playing volunteered to play through the entire game. It turned out to be 36 or 38 chapters. Wow. That's pretty good for a hand held experience. People want to get the most for the money they put into a game. Often times with Hand Held devices you're overwhelmed by the .99 apps on the phones and not wanting to pay a full $60 for a game on something like the Vita.

What are some other hand held games that you think are worth the money, time and energy to put into a mobile gaming experience.

Persona 4 Golden, Disgaea 3 and Soul Sacrifice are other Vita games that are very long but also very VERY good. You definitely get enough bang for your buck with these games if what you want are long good games.

Its been so long since I played a Disgaea game. That's a pretty good idea, but are the mechanics generally the same as they were for the games on the PS's themselves? I haven't actually played one of these games on the PS 3 itself, but I have watched my buddy jump into one and it looked like it was the same type of blast that I had played in the past. Any other ideas to be looking for?

Disgaea 3 on Vita is pretty much identical to Disgaea 3 on PS3, but it includes a new story chapter and all the DLC that was released for the PS3 version. There's also some other changes, like adding Tera version of magic skills or something, I've heard. Maybe adding a feature from Disgaea 4 too, like they did for the Disgaea 1 and 2 ports on PSP (Disgaea 1 got a feature from 2 and 2 got a feature from 3). The best thing is that the Disgaea games work beautifully on handhelds.

I would agree with Persona 4 Golden. If you can get into the social aspects as well as the dungeon crawling, it's a really nice experience, and a long one. If you like it, you could also check out Persona 3 Portable, the PSP port/remake of Persona 3. It's also a very long game.

Other than that, MGS HD Collection is worth a go and, even though it's a bunch of separate games, they are a lot of fun and it will sink in a lot of time. I have played through those games so many times, it's not funny.

do you know the approx hours he got out of the game? 38 chapters sounds long, but are they incredibly short chapters?

I haven't played much, just a few chapters, but I noticed that they aren't exactly long. Not really short either, though. There's a lot of things to find in each chapter, however, so if you go for the Platinum, it's definitely gonna last you a good while. It's not as long as games like Persona 4 Golden or Disgaea 3, but it seems to be a pretty lengthy game.

I've not played the game, myself, outside of the demo. But, when I think about the other Uncharted games, they are relatively long experiences.

I've looked around (and I would post links if I could) but, generally, on your first run through the game, you will be spending around ten hours playing. This definitely isn't bad for what kind of game this is.

There are a lot of Vita games that can take you a good while to finish to completion. Uncharted: Golden Abyss took me three playthroughs for the platinum (one on hard, one on crushing, one to collect the relics) which took around 4 hours each when skipping cutscenes. I have also been able to find a great amount of my time sucked up by Little Big Planet on the vita due to its fun gameplay and insanely hard minigames. Of course, if you aren't going for 100% then the game is rather short.

Most games on the vita will take time to platinum if you are one of those completionist types. If you want a game where the main game is long, then I would be looking into RPGs like Persona 4 Golden, Soul Sacrifice, Disgaea 3, Atelier Totori Plus(maybe, I haven't played this one yet). RPG games will always give you a lengthy main story. Otherwise, I'd say you can always get a bang for your buck out of most Vita games if you do everything in them. :D

From what I've heard, Atelier Totori Plus is fairly long too. More than that, it has a time limit so it might be necessary to play multiple times to actually see all of the events and such.

Oh yeah, since Disgaea 3 has been mentioned, Disgaea 4 has been announced for Vita. No announcement of localization yet, but I'm sure it will be localized. Regardless, Disgaea games are extremely long if you do everything in them, so Disgaea 4 is another one to add to the list of long Vita games.

Yeah, any RPG is gonna have a huge shelf life, as well as assorted adventure type games. Sports games offer a lot of replay value but most people get tired of them after a few weeks/months. But going back to the RPG thing, those are my go to games for handheld systems.
