I want something that plays music, but I don't want to have to sell my dog to afford it, so anything made by Apple is out. Have you guys had any good results from relatively cheap MP3-players? Any you'd recommend?

The best place to look would definitely be Ebay, they hae a variety of off brand MP3s ver cheap.

I had good luck with my Creative Zen. Though then again, I also bought that 10 years ago and its since taken its final crap. Dunno if they still make MP3 players. If you want one that is just cheap, I see Coby brands in stores for really cheap. Can also check out Best Buy and get their Insignia branded MP3 player. It'll do what you need it to do, especially if you aren't looking for any bells and whistles.

Chinese brands are always cheap, but if you want more quality assured, go get a Philips GoGoear or a Sansa Clip, they're really cheap and you can be sure of the quality.

Well, this depends on if you want a good quality player, or just a cheap one that will last for a while before you have to buy a new one. I'd go for the former obviously, but it'd cost you more. Still, ebay is probably your best bet for a cheap, decent mp3 player.

You can easily find a cheap MP3, but you have to make sure it can at least hold more than 20 songs. Before I got my iPod classic that has 80 GB's for Christmas about 7 years ago, I use to buy those cheap MP3's that cost about $20. They were good, but did not hold much, at all! I did not want to keep deleting and adding new songs, so I would keep buying another one that held a little bit more, but it was never enough. You can go to the internet to buy them at Ebay, Cragislist, maybe Amazon, or you can go to stores like Gamestop, Walmart, Target, Bestbuy, Big lots and others. They are very easy to find. I would suggest getting at least an iPod Nano. Or just use your phone, if you can add a memory card to it.
