Madden in other countries

Just wondering what Madden sales are like in other countries. Do they eagerly anticipate the new release or is that anticipation placed more on fifa as soccer is a bigger sport in many other countries. Just sitting here waiting for my Saints to play and started wondering about that.

I've always wondered this myself. Like it's watched outside the US, but not in significant numbers, but probably significant enough numbers to warrant releasing the games in other countries? Like when a rugby game (I want to say there were two, could be wrong) was released on the PS2. There are people who watch it here and it does get a little air time occasionally, but I'd gather it wasn't like "Rugby is TAKING OFF in the US. We should release a rugby game here and manage the rosters regularly. It'll be worth the effort."

My cuz lives in the UK and his friends are all about the soccer games like FIFA. IMO you would be better off liking another sport because EA has been stuck in a 15 year rut on Madden. They could relabel the same game for 3 years straight and nobody would notice as long as the commercials said "all new franchise mode" or "all new realistic tackling physics".

- not trying to belittle anyone, because I have also fell for it at least 3 times since 2005

Here in my country Madden is not popular at all. Most people like football so they buy FIFA or PES.

I highly doubt that you'll see a lot of Madden available in foreign countries. FIFA dominates overseas but Madden not so much. American football is very much for our country and Canada though the London game does pretty good ratings and attendance wise. Though we could argue about whether or not Madden should be doing well here.

Yea I'd say that in other countries Madden likely won't be widely released/purchased. Football (I call it soccer) is their sport and they stick to it, so FIFA definitely will be the big seller there. I do play with a few people from other countries that play Madden though, so maybe their is some interest in that regard, but I just don't see Madden as a major selling point where soccer (don't hate me for saying soccer, it's just feels wrong to call it football) is the huge sport there so FIFA will make them their money

It is probably entirely dependent on the person and the type of culture they grew up in. I have a few European friends, and it would be an odd day if not one of them talked a bit about soccer, but then again, most of them grew up in 'sport-rich' environments. In fact, I know quite a few people from India and other asian countries who are all the rage for basketball, and some in tennis, rugby, etc. As far as translating that passion onto consoles goes...It is kind of hard to say. One would have to be a general gamer and a decent fan to purchase things like Madden or FIFA and really enjoy it. I probably would not be able to, even if I did grow up in another country.

I honestly don't think Madden does that well at all overseas. EA most likely doesn't put out that many Madden copies out in other places anyway. You know, not enough that it would be a huge loss if the games didn't sale that well.
