Mature Games

How many M rated games do you have on the PS1?

I think I had less than 10 when I had a bunch of games for PSX. Now I have three: Dino Crisis 1 & 2 and Nightmare Creatures

I have about 5 M-Rated games for PSX.

I don't know how many I had because I didn't know anything about ESRB ratings back then Thinking back, I think I had plenty of M rated games because my dad just buys me whatever games I choose last time.

There were much more M rated games than you'd think! Off the top of my head the obvious ones are the GTA games, Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Mortal Kombat Trilogy etc. There are even some that you probably wouldn't think of classifying as mature, such as Metal Gear Solid, Die Hard Trilogy, Street Fighter Alpha 2 etc. Nowadays I doubt these games would get the mature rating though.

You wouldn't of had that many games then, surely?
It was only in the dying days of the Megadrive/Genesis & SNES that games started getting M ratings, around the same time the PS1 came on the scene.
Since then, most games seem to be M, or in the UK, 18 rated. Well, from what I notice anyway.

It would've been a pretty small collection for PS1 when it comes to M-Rated titles. I had very few though, like RE games mainly.

I believe I had more M-rated games for PS2 than PS1. On the subject of ratings and Dieselkerr bringing up a brief history of ratings, anyone remember when "Everyone" was "K-A" or when there was an "MA-17"?

There was an MA-17 rating? I vaguely remember K-A.

I actually don't remember that many M rated games for the system. I assume that the Silent Hill games were M rated. Same with GTA 2. Actually I think that might have been the only M rated Playstation game that I owned. I really don't care about the rating system.

Cool stuff. I always wanted to get mature games when i was younger but i knew they would keep asking for my id! Ugh it was fustrating but i still got some great E and T rated games!

I can't remember what the rating of the games I have and I can't review them anymore since my collection has been gone for a long time now, but I had a good number of the famous titles, so I'd say I probably had a good number of them in there. The only one I am sure of that is most likely to be M-rated is Resident Evil.

There was an MA-17 rating? I vaguely remember K-A.

There was an MA-17 and MA-14 (which I didn't know)

It was MA13, which didn't make sense as a rating and they just smushed it together as MA.

I remember MA-13 and yes, it was a stupid idea to split the Mature rating. MA-13 just became the Teen rating which I had mostly forgotten about.

Ah, the early days of the ESRB system. Is "Adults Only" still a rating?

I think it is. It's sitting there just in case. It'll get it's chance to actually shine, but that's only if someone run with a full on porn game, really.

I doubt they'll ever get to use AO. It's there, but I don't see an Adults Only game getting put on shelves...maybe digital, but ratings don't ultimately matter for digital.
