What are people's thoughts on this game?

Personally I'm not a fan I love retro styled games but one thing I really do hate is when they make a game, based on Retro games of the past which is kind of what they've done here. Overall I'm not impressed with the game and spending a few hours on it, wasn't really fun.

I believe their is a co-op mode which might make the game better as I've always believed gaming with friends if more fun than gaming alone.

I bought it recently on PC. It's a very fun, similar to Megaman. Does take awhile before you can unlock the truly awesome weapon parts, though, but the customization is insane.

Im not really into these 'old' types of games.At least not on PS4 anyway.
I can play these sorts of games on my phone.Ive no interest to play them on PS4.

Im not saying it's a bad game,if people like to play these on a PS4 (or PS3) then more power to you.

I for one I'm loving it...

It's simple enough for my wife to pick up and play... But at the same time, it has RPG and deep customization elements to keep me happy!

Also the Local and Online coop is a very welcomed feature!

Tried for an hour. Started to like it.
The save points/medic tents need a fast healing option.

Well I've given up on it. Me and a mate went on and did co-op.

I don't understand why they don't bring out some of the more modern looking games to show off the true visuals and power of the PS4 like Resogun, Outlast etc.

I really like this game. I have always loved the Monster Hunter games, so playing Mercenary Kings was a pretty easy transition. The game is beautiful, and just because it has retro graphics does not mean it isn't good looking. It is a bit of a grind sometimes, but ultimately so satisfying to upgrade your gun. My only complaint is that it is only 4 direction shooting and not 6 or 8. But overall, 8.5/10
