Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes gets price cut on PS4, Xbox One

Konami is dropping the price of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes by $10, from $39.99 to $29.99 for both the retail and digital versions, the publisher announced today.

That cut brings the PS4 and Xbox One versions' price in line with the physical last-generation versions of the game. Ground Zeroes will sell for $29.99 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 at retail, while those versions will cost $19.99 on the PlayStation Store and Xbox Games Store.

Well it's good to see that Konami is playing it smart and listening to consumers prior to launch. It's no surprise that many were upset that the game was reported to be very short and yet cost $40 on next gen consoles as oppose to $20 on last gen digital and $30 on disc. I myself have already decided to simply rent the game and not purchase; granted MGS 5 : Phantom Pain will be a day one purchase for me. I'm sure the price cut will gain them plenty of sales that would have been otherwise lost. Has this change your opinion of the game? Will you be picking this up next month? Let us know in the comments!

Thats good news, I'm not planning to get it but my wife is a Metal Gear fan -I'll probably fiddle with it. I figure a 2 hour game, or so people claim, would take me a month to beat LOL

I am getting it, I don't care if I have to sell my kidney. I am a die-hard MGS fan. Bring on Ground Zeroes!!

This is great! Not sure if I'll get it day one, but this is still good news. This isn't a full game and did not need to be forty dollars.

I only just found the thread where it says the game is really short, about 2 hours apparently. Makes me think this is just damage limitation before the damage is done. Imagine if they charged $40 for something that some other games call DLC-length. The backlash would be EA-esque (I did just make that up). If this is meant to be a prologue to TPP then I desperately hope that will be a bigger game.

I think that as disappointing as the length may be, this is a must play for the hardcore fans since it continues the cannon. I will be happily playing this at launch despite my reservations about it.

I wasn't expecting a huge game since it's a prologue anyway but 2 hours? That said, they're going for re-playability according to the devs.

Getting infamous first then once done with that will maybe pick up ground zeroes hopefully as pre owned, want more content for my buck, i am a huge mgs fan but this is not a day 1 purchase for me at the moment, as brilliant as it looks.

I always enjoy the Metal Gear Solid games. That being said, I have no problem waiting for this to price drop a little bit before picking it up.
