Metal Gear Solid speed run

Already watch it some months ago, when i got in a speedrunning frenzy and watched all my favorite games speedrunned. Really fun stuff right there if you want to know more about the game itself.

Man, all I can say is that this guy is pretty darn good. He took only minimal damage in extreme difficulty setting while finishing the game in a very short period of time? That's something. I never watched any videos like these before and I gotta say that you have to have some skills to finish it in extreme difficulty.

Things like this always amaze me. He's obviously very talented and has great finger dexterity. I love games but I have to wonder if someone with his skill would be better served doing something else like playing a musical instrument or performing surgery.

Isn't is somehow depressing to see how short all of your favourite games actually are?

It's not depressing. I never want to complete a game in the shortest amount of time possible especially in the first play through. A game is supposed to be an experience which is why I take my time to savor every moment I have with a game.

Yes but I watched some speed runs recently and I just never could imagine how small the games were. What were the publishers thinking?

Lol, yeah... I was quite surprised myself that Metal Gear Solid was finished in less than 2 hours. But let's take into consideration the cutscenes and the conversations that were skipped. Those are also part of the game that was cut in the speed run videos. Still, I remember quite clearly that one of the main complaints in the Metal Gear Solid game for the PS1 is that it was too short. Perhaps the developers really tried to make it more of a cinematic game. That's probably one reason why it's short and sweet.

I think the first part of MGS just needed big space on the CDs.
