Monster Hunter on PS4

Hey guys, I've been a big fan of Monster Hunter ever since the first PSP release. It's been so long, and Monster Hunter's only been released to handheld consoles and the Wii. Do you guys think Monster Hunter will ever release for the PS4? I mean if Capcom made Monster Hunter for the Wii U, Playstation home consoles deserve some love too.

If Monster Hunter was released for the PS4, would that change your position on purchasing a PS4 or not? I would buy the PS4 in a heartbeat if it was.

I'm going to buy the PS4 regardless, but I'd love to try a Monster Hunter game. I've never played one, but I am interested in playing it. If they can make on for the Wii U, I imagine a PS4 version isn't insane to hope for.

Of course it will be released for the PS4!
...and will continue to be a Japan exclusive game, with no release on the west!

Damn Capcom, you had one job!

Seriously, if they release an english version of a Monster Hunter for the Playstation 4, i will sell my Playstation 3 on the day it releases and i will buy the damn thing!

I'm sure they will. I mean I'm not 100% sure if it's an exclusive for Nintendo but if it isn't then I definitely see Capcom withholding the game until Nintendo's made considerable sales with it. I mean it would be disappointed if it wasn't getting a PS4 release. It's just a wait and see.

It would be a wonderful idea if they released it on PS4, the possibilities are infinite and it would make an excellent next-gen game. I seriously hope so, please please please! If I had a genie I would wish Monster Hunter on PS4 no joke hahaa

I've heard Europe has it pretty bad when it comes to games (and Australia when it came to mature rated games). Capcom listens to no one, that's why they just run with Street Fighter several times and Resident Evil the bulk of the time and non-SF and RE titles when they need breather from adding new fighters and stages and reselling the game as a new one.

...I swear there was a time when Capcom had a pretty nice amount of games: Breath of Fire, Strider, Final Fight, Saturday Night Slam Masters, Ghosts n Goblins, Black Tiger, Onimusha, Rival Schools, Plasma Sword, Power Stone, U.N SQUADRON, Bionic Commando, etc. and so on.

I know the reason they said they couldn't get a diverse amount of games (the question was in reference to RPGs) was because they only had a developmental staff of around 600 while companies like Square Enix have 1200, but even SE play it pretty safe with franchises.

I'm not sure why Capcom stopped releasing a lot of these games. I think part of there reasoning is the fact that their not sure if it would sell well in this market. A lot of western gamers have made it clear that their not really interested in JRPGs no matter how awesome. Unless the west proves that these games have the ability to sell there is just no way that Capcom is going to release them.

I mean it took Wii U owners bombarding the Japan Miiverse to get Nintendo to release Mother 2 in the US.

That's true, it did take a bit to get Earthbound on the Wii U. Seems like it would take a laser and lunar writing to get Capcom to get back to a few of those older titles. Some companies have had to come up with new franchises to work with in the last 10-15 years and end up working with the same ones over and over. Of course they work, but you should at least have a title in every main genre. Capcom has some dating back to the late 80s that would pretty much be new if they did them in this decade.

I do understand it's partially a localization issue though.

You know there's a new Strider coming to PS4, right? I mean it's in baby steps territory, but it's outside of that MH-RE-SF box Capcom has nestled itself into.

Oh I knew about Strider. Yeah it's a minor baby step, hope to see more old school Capcom titles revived or continued.

True, there are a lot of Capcom games that I played when I lived in Japan that I would kill for here but it's not going to happen. Just like there are a ton of Nintendo games and insert Japanese publisher here. It's just a localization issue and Japanese publishers believing that they won't do well here. And trust me when I say that some of these games are amazing but the belief in Japan is that western gamers are to interested in games like Call of Duty to give other genres a shot which isn't true when you look at games like Bayonetta, Heavenly Sword (which should get a sequel) Final Fantasy, The Witcher series, and Persona.

I also think that they worry about the different cultures since Japan has been slammed by feminists recently about gaming tropes. See the ridiculous Kojima and Dragon's Crown controversy.
