Most Underrated Game On PS1

There are a lot of underrated games on the PS1. One of my favorite strategy RPGs - Monster Seed, was definitely underrated. Though it had a mediocre story, the gameplay was top notch. You could hatch and collect monsters and use them in battle. Battles occurred in grids and you could control your character and your summoned monsters around the specified grid. It was awesome but only got an average rating of 6.

I want to say Tomba since when it comes PSX platformers since usually it's either Spyro or Crash that gets all the love.

The original SaGa Frontier was pretty darn underrated. It got slammed unniversally by reviewers when it came out and was dubbed one of the first "bad" Squaresoft games of the psx era. I rented it because I thought it looked really cool in previews and now its probably one of my most played rpgs of my youth. I just had a lot of fun with it, it had some cool ideas, challenging boss battles (until you got dsc and beat everything in a couple of hits) and amazing music. People seem to have warmed up more to it in the 2000s but it still retains a kind of minor cult following. People know more about the sequel, Saga Frontier II, but I didn't like that as much as the first.

I thought Bloody Roar was pretty underrated. I mean that game is great, I don't know many people who've played that game before so I maybe misjudging, but I think that game deserves more attention same as Tekken does.

I'd say Ehrgeiz is underrated, since at that time a fighting game with bonus Final Fantasy characters would appear to be awkward at first. Of course, we've wanted to see FF characters in a fighting game, but at that time the technology wasn't there yet. It would turn out that Square Enix would eventually come up with a fighting/RPG-style game in Dissidia 10 years later (Ehrgeiz in 1998, Dissidia in 2008).

I think Bloody Roar is kinda underrated compared to how it should be viewed.

Kagero gets my vote for most underrated title on the PS1 and even on the PS2 as well. I don't know why this game didn't get more popular and it's mostly been forgotten by the masses at this point, but I do hope it gets some attention again someday and I am really hoping for a reboot of it as well.

You are totally right. I had forgotten Bloody Roar even existed, last time I played the series was on psx.

Yes, yes and yes. Bloody Roar was the funniest fighting game ever made. The gameplay was amazing so was the character. I played it so much. We spent may afternoon only playing Bloody Roar with my friends back then. Good memories !

I'd say Bloody Roar is underrated compared to where it's at or viewed. Like it's generally in that realm of obscure fighters like Fighter's History, Pit Fighter, Tobal No. 1, and Fighter's Destiny when it should be more in that cult fighters realm with Plasma Sword, Night Warriors, Power Stone, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, the PS2 Godzilla fighters, and Project Justice.
I wouldn't exactly put it up there with Street Fighter, Killer Instinct, Fatal Fury/KOF, Capcom vs. SNK, Mortal Kombat, or Marvel vs. Capcom.

Right on! It was kind of unique when you take a look at it, I've yet to play another fighting game where you can just morph to an entirely different character altogether. Wish I could still play that game though.

Too bad the developers just scratched it off completely, well you can't blame them really. But if they were to reboot the game for the current gen I would definitely get one. Fingers crossed.

I loved Bloody Roar and I agree with the fact that it was under rated. Too bad really, it was one of my favorites.

The game that I thought never got the credit it deserved was Lunar. Lunar was by far one of the best RPG's on the PlayStation 1 in my personal opinion. The art work was great and the story line was awesome.

There was one in development last gen, but then the company got bought and nothing ever became of it.. So there hasn't been a nrw entry since the last PS2 game(Bloody Roar 4 I think)
I don't think the odds are in favor of a new Bloody Roar coming out. But hell, a Killer Instinct came out last year. So who knows?

Ehrgeiz and the Kings Field Games. King field games have an AWESOME atmosphere which only spiritual successors like Demon Souls and Dark Souls really manage to understand and carry on. Ehrgeiz is just a super interesting fighter/beat-em-up hybrid that is super fun to play and I love the fact it has final fantasy characters in it.

Bloody Roar and Tomba running a close second. Bloody Roar was a riot, I sucked at the game but I got such a kick out of it that it didn't matter.

I know right! And that game (KI) was long been in the waters before. But I think it's the lack of support and the appeal of the game really, I mean the game is good in on itself, but with other fighting games out there it's really hard to stand out. But I think if the game is rebooted it will gain a whole lot of traction if handled well.
