My take on the Xbox One

A few hours ago, Microsoft announced the new gaming console that would "revolutionize" the gaming industry. They announced the Xbox One. They said that it WILL be the game changer. It will change your gaming experience. The experience which can be found only on Xbox One.

What a piece of crap, Microsoft. If you want something that will change MY gaming experience, then make a good gaming console, not a freaking voice-activated remote control for my TV! I admit, the voice controls were cool and all, but that's not enough to make me want to buy the console. If you wanted to revolutionize the gaming world, then you should have allowed backward compatibility. In addition to that, I've heard rumors that you'll be requiring us to pay for second hand games. Seriously?

What gives, Microsoft? I know you have your own reasons on why you made these decisions, but why?

I guess I'll be sticking with my laptop for now.

The specs released for these new consoles all include processors, ram, hard drive, graphics card etc which always seem to natch rhe specs of outdated desktops. If I wanted a badly made Gaming machine I would of built my own PC!

Only good thing here I see is the 8GB Ram which both the new XBox and PS4 have but to be honest I was expecting a lot more in regards to their processors and graphics chips.

My 2 year old laptop has better specs than these machines - I won't be buying one, especially at the £399 price tag.

Thank you for pointing this out, for I forgot to include this problem in my original post. I agree with you a 100%. The specs were not that revolutionary or groundbreaking enough to make me buy a new gaming console instead of building my own PC. Heck, I could say that my laptop has better specs than the console!

I'm on the same boat as you. I like the skype and TV option, but that isn't enough for me. They also have an Exclusive Partnership with EA which I'm not excited about. It's just another reason why I'm looking forward to the release of PS4.

I guess I'll just wait for E3 to see what kinds of games will be released. All hope is not lost for the Xbox One yet.

When I saw the announcement, I was just thinking that Microsoft is playing catch up with Sony. The only thing I can honestly say I felt was a good idea was the integration of the kinect into the console, but it doesn't take a genius to think that up. I feel that the rumored Xbox 720 is way, way better that the actual Xbox One. The rumored features were much better and the name actually sounded cooler.

As for the point on hardware, I feel that consoles don't really need as great specs as gaming PCs since all the processing power and Ram are dedicated to pure gaming. But apart from that, I think a gaming PC is more worth my buck as the newer consoles seem to add more features that don't IMPROVE my gaming experience.

You're right, despite this fiasco, I'm still excited on what they can offer at E3.

That's pretty unfortunate, but hopefully they are working on something for worldwide users. I'm sure the features won't be useless though, why make it if people are not even going to have the features? Those people that can't should just stick with the 360, since they barely offer anything different from it.

I liked its design, I don't agree with fans calling it a VCR, I think it's good that consoles are now allowed to look sleek and part of the more important appliances category instead of just being regarded as a toy. The only things I didn't like was the invasive nature of Kinect and the high price, but otherwise, I still would have strongly considered buying one.
