Nice and Quiet

Anyone else notice yet how much quieter the 4 is compared to the 3. I didn't notice until yesterday when I went to play a Ps3 game and realized how noisy it was after playing the ps4 for a while.

Do you think? This weekend was the first proper time I've had to give it a good session and I actually thought it was quite noisy, although in saying that, only at certain points in certain loading parts of games, video scenes etc. Nothing major or unbearable though, but can't really tell a different personally between it and the PS3.

I tough the same! I've already tried it because my friend already bought it, and it makes almost no noise at all!
Definitely a cool feature.

I haven't noticed a difference in noise. I usually play with the TV up loud though.

My ps4 is noticeably less noisy then my ps3. While playing the ps3 I realized the noise it was making that is absent while playing the ps4.

I thought the noise of the fan is quite loud on the PS4, similar to the PS3 especially after long hours of gaming. Could be that my room can get quite hot sometimes and the fan has to work extra. However, the drive loading sound that I got from the PS3 seems to be gone on the PS4.

I have a 80GB Fat PS3,dunno if the Slim models are any quieter but my PS4 is defo quieter than my PS3,and I also have a 7200rpm HDD in my PS4,not the stock 5400rpm one so it may be a tiny bit louder than stock HDD too even.

I've noticed that the PS4 is less noisy. I'm not sitting in a completely quiet room with the TV volume off and no other music/sounds going to notice it, but it's not a noticeable whirling sound.

I also noticed that the PS4 is a little less noisy than my PS3. I couldn't tell you how much though, because I just sold my PS3 yesterday

Maybe it's the new fans design, whatever they did I've noticed that the fan is a lot quieter on the PS4 too. It's definitely a nice bonus and you can tell they Sony designers really put some effort into making the PS4 better in all ways from the PS3.
