Nintendo says the earthquake & tsunami of 2011 affected Wii U development | Wii U

Nintendo has revealed that the devastating earthquake that took place in Japan during 2011 played a big part in slowing development for the Wii U. They go on to say that their handheld device the 3Ds started out great when it was first released but the earthquake halted momentum and forced Nintendo to soon after dramatically cut the price of the system. Maybe the Wii U can be turned around like how the 3DS was.

I would love to see the Wii U make a comeback but right now that doesn't seem like it's really going to happen with the release of the Xbox One and Playstation 4 right on the horizon. Also it makes sense that their development was halted because that was quite a large disater that made a huge impact on more than just Japan.
Really not holding out much hope for the Wii U anymore.
