This was announced back in February but thought I would mention it here since we have some Nintendo gamers here.
Nintendo have announced that all online servers for both the original Nintendo Wii and the DS will be shut down, effective on May 20th - meaning games with online functionality (such as Mario Kart Wii, Call of Duty, Smash Bros. Brawl, etc.) will have its online play, leaderboards and matchmaking axed.
But don't worry if you have a Wii U or 3DS, as they are unaffected by the online shutdown of the Wii and DS.
For a total list of all games affected by this, please refer to this link: http://www.nintendo.com/whatsnew/detail/vyWpoM6CBIe6FjW8NIY7bvzOrgBURhzw
