Hello guys,

I have an question about the PS4.

At the launch the makers confirmed the PS4 wont support 3d blue-ray playback and MP3 tracks.

When are the makers gonna install these features in the PS4?

I know they said they'd have it done in an update, but when I can't say. I did try and google it but nothing recent came up.

I did hear talk on some other forums about possibly early 2014 but I think that was just 'talk'.

Derri thank you for your reply.

I was thinking about the update. Is it possible to instal an feature like 3d blueray from an update because i think something must change in the hardware.

Well the news articles I was reading said it would come in a patch. Mind you those were before the PS4 release.

Just out of curiosity, have you tried to play MP3 file?

I dont have the PS4 yet.

I live in Holland and here there is no PS4 to buy because of the abnormally high pre-orders. The shipment goes straight to the people who ordered it.
I read messages about ppl who didnt got their PS4 while there ordered in september. So im gonna wait untill februari and i hope this problem will be solved by then.

While it's just talk, it's wide enough a window that it sounds like a good deadline of sorts. It should be done soon and early/first quarter 2014 looks good to me.

That's a great question. It hasn't really been confirmed as of yet, but I would say sometime within the next major update for the PS4, as users and owners of the console, are demanding these features be installed. Sony is taking notice I can assurey ou that, and I expect something to be implemented in the next update or two.

Why wouldn't they add blu ray support? It's what Playstation 3 was known for and it's actually one of the MAIN reasons I bought a PS3. To game AND play blue ray discs. You get the whole package but the lack of support on ps4, the next generation, is very stupid.

Should be picking up a new tv tomorrow, will give the 3D a try. I know regular bluray movies work in the ps4.

Not sure why they would not have that all working from the getgo as the PS3 has the features.

My friend has regretted a 3D telly for gaming as when you aren't gaming in 3D it can create a slight amount of lag, like a second or two but he's really regretted having a 3D telly so I hope you have better success.

3D is fun for movies but so far I havent like it for games, except for Zen Pinball on PS4,that one actually looks and works better in 3D.

3d is dumb I'm sorry but I never enjoyed 3d at all. Whether at the movies or on a 3d supported tv, I just can't get into them. It's just tech guys wanting to make something slightly fun so people can throw money at their product.

Oh no..,it doesnt have to be that way at all,for movies anyway.
Depends on the movie type, comedy or campy horror have 'pop out' which sometimes is cheesy and silly but can be fun but the best use of 3D in movies is just for the depth.
Movies like Prometheus and Avatar that were shot in 3D use it to great effect.
Many others that come out out now just for the sake of being 3D dont make use of it so dont need it,like Man of Steel and others for eg,2D on these are prob better.
But as I said,Promtheus (like the movie or not) and Avatar use it for depth to great effect and work excellent.

3D movies (avatar) did not play in 3D on my new Panasonic through my ps4, but played in 3D through my ps3.

Not a huge fan of 3D movies, the only ones I have enjoyed in 3d were animated like wall e or up. Arkham city was stunning to look at in 3D when just standing there, but moving around was annoying.
