Offline but online

Is there any way of playing games and being shown offline to other players at the same time, used to be able to do this on my Xbox 360 but can't find any way of doing this on my PS4

Just go to your PS4 network settings and untick the box that says 'connect to internet'.
Ofcourse you will actually be disconnected from the internet and so can only play solo games,no multiplayer etc.
Hope that's what you mean.

Yes sort of, but would also like to play multiplayer while showing offline as well, doesn't matter if I can't, just wondered if you could do it.

Dont think so.
You could do it on PS3.Show as offline but actually be online.(special trick)But do not know of a way on PS4.

Is that not when you'd show 'away'? You'd like appear at the bottom of someone's friends list?

No,you are talking about 'not available' feature.
I am talking about actually appearing offline but you can actually be signed in and online,even play MP games.

No, it's not possible. The PS4 allows only two modes: online or offline. If you're offline (disconnect from PSN) you can keep on playing only locally, with no access to multiplayer.

This probem HAS to be addressed by Sony in my opinion.

I am fed up, especially if I am capturing gameplay and stupid notifications popping up onscreen all the time etc.
