Older Titles I Should Look Into Buying

The PS4 will be the second PlayStation console I will have owned since the original. I got the PS2, skipped the PS3, and then am now at the PS4. Not only am I excited about playing the new games coming out for the PS4, but I am also excited to play the exclusives only released on the PS3. As long as the current upgrading from PS3 to PS4 system goes as planned for older games, what should I begin to look at for games that I may have missed on the PS3 or even PS2? I want to get Uncharted without a doubt, and the Last of Us almost convinced me to buy a PS3. I figured it was silly, however, to shell out for a PS3 when the 4 was right around the corner. So what are the absolute essential games I have missed?

Definitely the metal gear solid HD collection if you missed that from the previous playstation platforms.

So this is really about PS3 games then correct? (Topic moved)

There are only 4 games at moment on PS3 which have the upgrade offer to PS4. See here: LINK
Everything else you would have to buy on PS3,so how can you play PS3 games without getting a PS3?
Or are you just curious as what games are best on PS3?

Perhaps I assumed incorrectly but I assumed they were going to expand that upgrade to a number of their hits from the PS3. I had also heard talk that they would sell, through the PSN, digital copies of PS3 games on the PS4. Even if that does not happen, I suppose the PS3 will drop to such a low price after launch of the PS4 that I could just buy one up as well. So I guess I was just curious of what titles from the PS3 people could not live without.

Ah,I dunno, this may happen just as PS1 and PS2 games are available to download on PS3.

As for really really old PS3 titles that you should look into, then try out Heavenly Sword. It's a short but satisfying action adventure that's in line with God of War. Also, Resistance: Fall of Man is worth checking out. And of course, God of War and Little Big Planet and Killzone and Tekken 6 and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and Gran Turismo 5 and Ni No Kuni Wrath of the White Witch and and... oh heck, just check out the tread that Oberon said.:D

I was always a big fan of Ico and the God of War games. Really enjoyed Little Big Planet as well. Never gets old.

Technically, Ico is a PS 2 game and so is Shadow of the Colossus. But Sony released a compilation of these two games on the PS 3 too. But since the OP said he already owns a PS 2, I think he has already played Ico and SotC. What I'm looking forward to now is The Last Guardian which is supposed to be a sequel to SotC.

I think the two series that are fun on the Playstation 3 system is Infamous and God Of War. Both are great games that are exclusive to the Playstation 3 online. Which gives you even more reason to purchase the games if you have not already played them before.

Definitely this.

Also, Heavy Rain, Heavenly Sword, Dragon's Dogma, and Red Dead Redemption. I must be missing a few, but that's all I can think of now. :)
