Online Gaming passes worth it?

What is your opinion of games with these? Are they always worth it? There's a lot of talk about whether they're just a marketing ploy or a wave of the future. Some games offer extras while others claim you won't get the full game without them in order to get people to buy games new. Is this fair to people that don't have online hookups? Does anyone that's bought used ever felt like they lost out on something major by not getting the online pass?

I don't see how they could be anything else but a marketing ploy. I've purchased passes for two or three games that really got me hooked, but most of the time I try to avoid buying passes just to get extras.

Yea, online gaming passes are just a clever marketing ploy. The companies should not require you to get a pass, to play half the game, or unlock extras. I never buy these passes, because I refuse to fall for their marketing ploy.

Does that mean that even if it advertises that you need the online gaming pass to get the full game it's probably just BS? I can see why they'd want to cut down the ability to resell them (money out of their pocket) but I don't know if there's any actual games that require them.
