PC game controllers

I bought a PC controller the other day because I thought I would be more comfortable playing with it. But it's really been a hassle so far because I didn't know you had to configurate all the bottons and all that stuff. I just thought the game would install it and assign all the functions automatically. I got frustrated and my controller has just been gathering dust. If there's another way to use it without all that hassle, I'd really appreciate some pointers.

Did you buy an Xbox controller? A lot of the time games are Xbox 360 controller compatible. Just plug it in and play. What games are you trying to play?

I think you should buy a Xbox controller for you PC. They are compatible with most of the games. Is it a PS3 controller? If yes, you are going to have some issues with it until you get the hang off everything.

Yeah just buy an Xbox controller for you PC. Or you can use XBCD to just mod your 360 controller so you can use it on your PC. That's one problem with PC controllers, you have to manually set up everything. You can try and use x360ce to map out the buttons, worked like a charm for me.

No, it's one of those Genius generic controllers. I tried playing Splinter Cell, Hitman Absolution and Sniper Elite 3- and it was a real hassle configuring the buttons. I just gave up and kept using my keyboard.
