Pips for ranks

Oberon

, , The Enforcer, ,
I know as posts for a member increases the rank title changes as with any forum,nice.. but there is only 1 green pip next to all, including special groups (moderators).
How about increasing the pip amounts too.
1 pip for members with 0-20 posts,2 for 21-50 etc etc or what ever you would decide, you get my point.

The "pips" actually contribute to your reputation system. The more Rep power you gain, the more pips you get.

Also I'm pretty sure you can customize your title from "Senior Member" to anything you like (within reason of course :p)

I too was wondering how that worked. On that thought alone, I just repped up you haze, and oberon. To grant you that extra bit closer to that alluring second pip.

Honestly, I don't quite get how the Rep works here. I mean, usually it goes up when someone reps you, but I haven't noticed my number going up when I am repped. Is there a delay?

Rep.

Rep.

There does seem to be a delay. But not by a lot. Sometimes it can take an hour to update.

worked out how to change the title in my name,
I think it should be people's real names, so we can quote people more personally.

i.e 'thanks for sharing that comment adam, you sure are a smart fella'

i.e I reply, 'Thanks Carl.'

I think custom titles is OK as an added extra but post count ranks like member, senior member should stay on permanent.Just my view.

Ok let me try to clear up any confusion here...

The "Rep Power" underneath your avatar goes up each time you get a like with a thread or post you make.

The "Pips" go up once you reach 50 points total under your Reputation tab on your profile:

To add to somebody's reputation, click on the star symbol below a members post:

Up will pop this:

You can select "I approve" and have the option to comment. Each approved is 10 points, adding to that members reputation, NOT their Rep Power as that is separate. Once you hit 50 points in total, you will automatically receive two pips under your name.

As for when your Rep Power is updated, there is a delay so as soon as you get a like, it will not be instantly added to your Rep Power. There is a delay.

I hope this clears up any confusion. Maybe I should copy this in it's own thread and sticky it for members who may also be a little confused about how this system(s) work? Let me know.

I understood the system for it,
I was just curious on the time-length, because i added some to you guys a short while ago, and your rep numbers didnt go up.

So... two separate rep systems? Seems kind of pointlessly complicated. I think there should be only one reputation system, personally.

On another forum I go on, you can only publicly "Thank" someone, which is like "liking a post". Everyone can see when you thank someone, and there isn't any negative repping (because jerks could use that to make a newbie feel unwelcome). And each thanks is only worth 2 points, no matter how much rep you have, so that some people's rep isn't worth more than others (and the system isn't broken in a few years when everyone can give 5000 rep at will).

Personally, I like that system a lot more. But that's just me.

But regardless, I think the whole two rep thing is just too confusing. Stick to one way of repping XD

its the same rep system, every time you hit 50 points you get another pip. The system is set up where you have to hit 10 people before you can hit the same person again to not abuse the system. Their is a problem with the like integration that i'm currently working on.
