Playstation 4 and component/DVI cables?

Can anyone confirm if this works? I have an older Mitsubishi 1080i HDTV, but it has no HDMI inputs. It has component, rca, DVI, and VGA as well. I bought a HDMI to DVI cable, as well as an optical audio to RCA converter box. I was surprised to find that the audio works great without any lag, however I cannot change the resolution above 480p...I've tried changing it on a different TV and then bringing it back but it automatically changes it back to 480p. I've also tried safe mode and re-initialization of the PS4 to no avail..so I am pretty much asking if anyone has had any success with using HDMI to component cable or converter with the PS4 on older HDTV/Monitors. I thought for sure that the HDMI to DVI would be enough, as it worked with older systems. I've searched google for hours now and found no confirmations on whether this would work (other than the HDfury..but that's like $100 or something). I'm not trying to record any gameplay or anything, just trying to output 1080i gameplay to my older HDTV. Also, if anyone has any solutions/answers on why the HDMI to DVI cable isn't outputting 1080i (or even 720p..it's stuck at 480p), please let me know. Thanks for reading!

I cannot confirm if this works, but I can let you know that I'll ask the first of my friends who has access to their PS4 if they can test it for me.

I've had a friend that is doing the same thing as you and he told me he couldn't to get it to work with the PS4. You did better because at least you have display but he didn't get any signal at all. I feel that the PS4 is very choosy when it comes to outputs, have you checked at the settings in the console to see if there's any option?

The problem is not your PS4. It is that the display device cannot up convert the video signal. In order to get any resolution above 480p you need to up convert with a component that will do it for you since your display can't.
