Well,as many already know the Playstation 4 Pro is coming (previously knows at the Neo).
In my opinion if you havent got a PS4,this would be the one to get,but for the rest of us,is it worth upgrading?
Well,if you have 4K TV and plan to get Playstation VR then you may want to,but for people like me,with a 1080P TV and no plans for PS VR 'at the moment' then it may not be worth it.
Although Sony does say it can benefit not 4K,HDR capable displays owners, saying that :
...as developers can make use of the extra power to improve visual fidelity on standard 1080p TVs. Games will know what display you use and developers can tailor their experiences to fit. The extra power can be used to boost visual density or make other tweaks to visuals that can be enjoyed on non-4K TVs.

However the PS4 Pro doesnt have Ultra blu ray 4K movie support, pity.

Thoughts?

I watched the meeting and thought is was total crap. I have pre-ordered the PRO though, although I might cancel the pre-order later. I cannot believe there is no a 4k bl-ray player and Sony have not at least put in a 2TB drive. Oh well.
I wonder what next weeks PS4 4K update does precisely? It seems that unless you are planing to purchase the VR then the PRO is not 'essential'. Why did Sony think the PRO would compliment the normal PS4 and that you could have both alongside each other? Why have both of them?

Yeah,to me a major and many others a major omission.[/quote]

I think think they mean alongside each other as in sitting on store shelves, and when they say the 'PS4 Pro' compliments the existing PS4..well...sounds a little like marketing talk to me...and maybe just to help assure PS4 owners they have nothing to fear with the Pro,that upgrading isnt essential and its not like the Pro has a seperate game library.

I believe so,what the differences are between using a regular PS4 and PS4 Pro with VR I dont think we know yet.
Dont forget though you will also need PS Camera for the PS VR.

The PS4 Pro apparently only upscales game to 4K,Im not even sure there are/will be any that actually play in native 4K.Perhaps in the future.
Still a visual improvement Im sure.
But for the majority of us who already have a PS4 and even a 4K TV I cant see upgrading to a PS4 Pro worth it.
Perhaps it may be if you have a TV say 55" and up,where higher res may be more noticeable.

I assume an update will come that will let you play 4K blu-rays. Not sure why that could not be ready for the release of the PS4 Pro. On the fence about getting one. I do want to eventually upgrade to a 4K TV so this would be nice to have, but not being able to play 4K video from a disk, well thats not good. Will probably wait till it is announced for a future update.

Seems good value to me, shocking that 4K blu-ray won't be included though, that really does puzzle me. Maybe they'll add it as a feature later?

Its ironic you know, all the Xbox fanboys (I am not saying I hate Xbox, just the rabid fanboys) say that its all about the games and that graphics do not matter during the era where ps4 was dominating the scene and after the Xbox scorpio is reported to be more powerful than pro, they say its all about 4k. Lol

The components to be able to do 4K I doubt are what the issue is. It's going to be down to software. 4K blu-ray and 1080p blu-ray still use the blue laser. The software needs to be able to tell the processor how to decode it. Probably wasn't included at first. I'm sure 4K playback will be included. Remember, the PS3 wasn't included with 3D blu-ray playback capability until about 3 or 4 years ago I think. It was pretty late in the PS3's life cycle. They added it through a software update and I imagine that's what they're doing here. The software probably just wasn't ready for the PS4.5's release, which is fine.

The irony kills me sometimes in the gaming world. I'm fine with the Xbox (girl I'm seeing is an Xbox gamer and I bust her all the time, lol. My goal is to bring her to the light side ;) ). I've been a Sony fanboy since the original PS days. I've also been posting on gaming forums for over 15 years. The summary of what I've noticed over the years is this: During PS2 vs. Xbox, PS2 was graphically inferior. MS guys said it was about the graphics, PS2 guys said it was about the games. PS3 vs XB360, PS3 was graphically superior to 360 and the roles reversed. Now PS4 is still graphically superior to One but the difference is pretty negligible between cross platform games. I've seen the comparison videos and there is a difference in the PS4's favor but if you aren't pointed it out, you will never notice. At the end of the day, it's down to how you feel about your purchase in a console. The graphics don't really matter much to me as long as the game kicks some serious ass. You can have amazing graphics, but if there's no substance to the game, all it does is look pretty.

That's pretty much why I find the whole gaming community to be ****ing atrocious. Its quite frankly embarrassing to be a part of since all the fanboys find the need to attack other people who have different preferences of platforms.

Also to state, the ps4 pro is stated to actually be 2k that is upscaled to look 4k..... This was advertised as a 4k machine that was supposed to compete with PC's...
