Playstation 4 & Xbox One Launch Comparison

I might be wrong, but I think it benefits us by getting more developers interested in the particular console we decided to purchase. If Sony sells a lot more PS4s, then game developers will flock to it hoping to profit, and that means more games for us.

Right and that would be important if these were fledgling consoles or if this was 2005 or 2000. Even people who dont play video games now there a new xbox and playstation out. BOTH consoles sold over a million each in just a few days. Neither console did that so quickly last generation. Both consoles are desirable platforms for developers nowadays, Not untested risky unknowns. Smart developers will flock to BOTH consoles if they want to maximize earnings.

Its not like a potential developer is sitting there saying "naaaah id rather develop for this obscure console, PS4 and XBOne havent sold enough...
If theyre going to develop, you can BET its going to land on both consoles unless they sign an exclusivity deal. Even then the exclusivity deal will be based on money, not how many units each console has sold.

Im just saying. its cool to know the numbers etc but to tout the sales numbers as if theyre benefitting you is kinda weird to me. Maybe if you worked at sony or something...

We know both of the systems are going to sell like wildfire at first. The real question is, which one will have the most sales after a year? That is the true test of how good a system is.

That's the thing console sales are a waiting game. They'll do well on launch but it's 6 months to a year after before you really see how well either system does. And someone else is correct while Japan has mostly gone handheld when it comes to gaming, Microsoft has never managed to get a foothold in the country. They are still very loyal to Sony and Nintendo.

It hardly matter how much each console sold, what matters is how much they're going to sell. This is obviously affected by the games the console has, and since Sony looks like it has better exclusives and the PS4 is a bit more powerful, I think the PS4 is going to win.

That's really good news for both consoles, but definitely better news for Sony. Sony's numbers will jump significantly when they launch in more countries this week.

I think sales, around launch time, will largely depend on supply. Sony was able to ship 1 million to north america, so that's how many they sold. I feel like if MS shipped 1 million to NA, they would sell those as well. It's not hard for these hyped consoles to sell out for the holidays. The true test will be next year when the consoles will be easier to find, then we'll be able to see which one is truly selling better.

I heard some developers are waiting for more games and more sales to come out before a) launching their titles or b) finishing them up. Not sure why but I'm guessing for sales and to fix things based on users and the ps4's credibility lol
