Playstation Emulator for PC

As the name reflects, an emulator allows you to use your computer to emulate a Playstation console. Has anyone ever downloaded any of the emulator software? I'm just curious how a computer in this environment compares to a real gaming experience.

I have never downloaded an emulator, how can you tell that the download is safe? I would be curious to hear what others have to say about their computers emulating a playstation.

I haven't downloaded an emulator myself, but I have several acquaintances who have done this, so I've tested it a few times at their computers. The experience is somehow similar to the one offered by real game consoles, but it can't compete with the real gaming feeling of a Playstation...

Actually, I have downloaded an played some of my PS1 games on an emulator and I would say that the performance is somehow similar. :)

But, you need to have an actual PS1 in order to run an emulator. Because you will need to have a BIOS file which can be obtained from the console itself. But nowadays, than can be easily faked.

I don't think that using emulators could harm the gaming industry. The games are already old anyway. :)

But ethically speaking, I think it is not a good idea to run games on an emulator. Not unless you have the actual game and you did not just download it from the internet, illegally. :)

There are pretty good emulators for the PS2 but you need a real PC for them.

There have been a lot of difficulties in emulating the PS3
