Hello, folks! I've been reading this forum for the past few months and admittedly, have been a classic lurker ever since until today. I found the forum simply by looking for forums on Google using 'PS4 forum', 'Playstation 4 forum' e.t.c…
So, what is there to tell about me? I’m pretty boring really, in terms of my gaming console history. Cutting a long story short I'm 28, so my gaming history dates back to the very late eighties. I started out sharing my older Brother's Atari STE. Anyone remember those?! Then one Christmas (90/91 – whichever the first Christmas was after it's launch) I was treated to a brand new Sega Megadrive which I had until the launch of the original Playstation. Again, that was a Christmas present and again, would have been the first Christmas following it's launch. This was kept until the PS2 was launched which I had to contribute towards buying. I then bought the PS3 a week or so after it’s launch – which brings me up to date.
Currently I don't own a PS4 but do fully intend on upgrading sometime this year (probably the second half to hazard a guess), after hopefully settling some questions and personal concerns I have with the new console that I'll discuss in further detail over the course of the coming months in the relevant threads/topics.
So, what encouraged me to sign up to the forum? A couple of things, really. Firstly, this seems like a decent place to be where you get a broad range of views and I've yet to see that on other forums. This is easily the best place I've found for the sort of detail and spread of topics I'm looking for.
Secondly, I do intend on upgrading to the PS4 as I said, but I do have a few points I need to clarify/clear up before 'taking the plunge'. I'm not exactly the most technologically gifted of people and quite frankly if it's not a case of plugging in the console, hooking it up to the TV and switching it on, I'm going to be in trouble. No, I don't have a PSN account, nor ever used my PS3 online as I simply have never had a clue how to, or what’s needed, what’s involved e.t.c. I think you get my drift here...! In the past I've been told the generic "it's easy" but as I say – that still doesn't tell me what to actually do…! That’s my biggest fear with the PS4 – I do fear that consoles and their technology have now left me behind given the emphasis of 'online' this and 'downloading' that – whilst I’m wondering what on earth was wrong with simply slotting in a disc. I really do need guiding and convincing otherwise. Please don't take that as a rant. It really is just genuine concern! 'Analogue boy' is very much stuck and lost in the digital world!
Lastly, the recent 'To the guests' thread was the turning point when I decided enough was enough and I’m going to have to make myself known!
